Position Summary:This position will serve as a key member of Afya’s Development and Marketing teams.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for positioning Afya and its leadership as spokespeople and leaders in sustainable global disaster relief and health system strengthening. This role will work cross-functionally managing digital fundraising communications, social media strategy, press and media relations, and speaking opportunities. The Manager will provide input into executive thought leadership such as developing and implementing communication plans, social media, and copywriting for the organization. The manager is an expert at building and maintaining relationships, savvy about social media and digital platforms. You will serve as counsel to leadership and staff members and handle multiple projects daily with a high degree of confidence and independence.Job Responsibilities:Strategic Planning and Content Development:·

Develop strategic and annual communications and marketing plans.·

Direct the production of content across all channels, including print and digital platforms.·

Create annual reports, monthly newsletters, and collateral to support internal, external and development activities, including major fundraising campaigns and activities.Communication Planning and Execution:·

Create and execute communications plans for key organizational moments and announcements including program launches, campaigns, and new initiatives.·

Craft and tailor key messaging for consistency across all channels.Digital Communication Management:·

Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all external communications (email, social media, print).·

Oversee organizational website, CRM, social media accounts, and email marketing.·

Coordinate other digital assets and campaigns.

Media Relations and Publicity:·

Manage press and media relations to secure high-impact press coverage for the organization and spokespeople.·

Prepare organizational spokespeople for external engagements, including media opportunities, speaking engagements, and development meetings.

Data Analysis and Performance Improvement:·

Analyze marketing data, campaign performance, and trends to improve overall efficiency.·

Use insights to enhance marketing activities and strategies.

Writing and Editing:·

Write press releases, remarks, briefing documents, and blog posts to position the organization and its leadership as experts with regards to its mission.·

Ensure consistency and quality in writing and editing for both short and long formats.Project Management:·

Utilize strong project management skills to coordinate and execute marketing and communication initiatives.·

Collaborate cross-functionally with the Programs, Development, and Operations departments to ensure clear and consistent external communication.Strategic Alignment and Budget Management:·

Work closely with the senior management team (SMT) to align communication strategies with organizational goals.·

Manage communications budget when applicable.

Required Qualifications:·

Minimum 3-5 years of relevant communications experience, preferably in nonprofit, healthcare, or disaster relief.·

Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.·

Enthusiastic about Afya Foundation's values and mission to improve global healthcare.·

Prior development and fundraising communications experience preferred.·

Strong project management skills, capable of setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.·

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.·

Strong writing and editing skills (short and long form), with experience in various written communications.·

Experience developing and executing short- and long-term communications strategies.·

Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), website CMS, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, MailChimp, Wordfly).·

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Salesforce or Blackbaud, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SharePoint, Adobe Illustrator, and Raisers Edge marketing analytics tool.·

Proactive problem-solving skills with a creative approach.·

Great attention to detail, consistently producing accurate and timely work output.·

Ability to implement and monitor progress for successful campaign effectiveness.·

Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the organization and collaborate as a team player.·

Skilled in relationship-building and comfortable engaging with various stakeholders and media outlets.·

Able to work independently, take initiative, be results-driven, and self-motivated.Job Type:
