Position Overview: The STEAM Designer will play a crucial role in enhancing STE(A)M Truck's educational offerings by prototyping new builds, generating innovative ideas for projects, and training staff on the safe and effective use of both low and high-tech tools. This part-time contracted position requires a creative thinker with hands-on experience in STEAM fields and a commitment to safe, educational tool usage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prototyping Builds

Design and prototype new builds and projects that align with STE(A)M Truck's educational goals.Utilize both low-tech (e.g., woodworking, crafting) and high-tech (e.g., 3D printing, robotics) tools to create engaging prototypes.Test and refine prototypes to ensure they are safe, high quality, and educational.2. Generating Ideas for New Builds

Brainstorm and develop innovative ideas for new STEAM projects and builds.Collaborate with the Director of Engagement and educational staff to align projects with curriculum goals.Stay current with trends and advancements in STEAM education to bring fresh, relevant ideas to the table.3. Training Staff on Tool Usage

Maintain tool inventory to ensure safe tool usage and recommend additional service or purchase of additional tools.Develop training materials and guides to support staff learning and skill development.Develop training sessions for staff on the safe and effective use of both low-tech and high-tech tools.Qualifications:

Experience in a STEAM-related field, such as engineering, design, education, or a related area.Hands-on experience with both low-tech and high-tech tools, including prototyping and project development.Strong creative and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and training abilities.Commitment to safety and educational excellence.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time schedule.Skills and Attributes:
