Overview of PositionThe Media Studio Specialist will support teachers and students in New Trier's Media & Journalism programming by providing technical assistance both in and out of the classroom. Courses and Programs include: Advanced Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, TV & Film, New Trier News, Radio Production, and WNTH Club. Additionally, this person will collaborate with teachers on curriculum and program development to maximize student opportunities. This person will also collaborate with the Office of Communications to help strengthen the District's digital presence with video production, radio, and podcasts. This employee will possess strong technical skills and will be a creative and strategic thinker who knows how to amplify student voice and showcase the best work of the District, highlighting the accomplishments of students and staff.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in multimedia arts, communications, broadcast journalism, or related fieldMinimum three years of experience as a videographer, multimedia communications, or related field is preferred; radio and broadcast experience preferredMultimedia experience, including online video production and video editingExperience with industry-standard graphic applications include the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop,Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat) as well as Microsoft Office, Google Suite and social media

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:

Strong technical knowledge of video cameras, video/photo editing software programs and audio/recording devicesAbility to take a concept and create a finished multimedia productAbility to meet deadlines with high quality productsAbility to maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding student informationExcellent videography skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly with staff, students, parents and others. Job Responsibilities:

Radio Station

Manages day-to-day operations of radio station.Maintains the District's radio station equipment.Sponsor for the Radio Station Club (additional stipend provided).Teaches Radio Station Club students technical tools for recording, selected approved content, programming, and uploading content for faculty review.Oversees the Radio Station Board and day to day programming.Facilitates video production and radio station technical needs for faculty and students.Maintains inventory of all media and radio station hardware and software.Ensures FCC compliance and other legal requirements for maintaining radio station in collaboration with Video Engineer.Works with faculty to develop a budget and life cycle plan for the technical needs of the media lab and radio station. Provides an annual budget and plan to the Chief Technology Officer by April 15th each year for the following school year.

Video Production

Supports campus administration in video production projects as requested.Develops and leads projects and campaigns to showcase the best innovative education initiatives across our District and schools on digital and other platforms.Plans and produces videos highlighting the District and school initiatives.Maintains check-out process of cameras, tripod, storage media, etc.Researches and helps implement best-emerging communications technology to support communication among and with teachers, staff, students, and families, such as webinars, blogs, and podcasts.

Classroom

Provides in-class technical support for Media & Journalism courses (Broadcast Journalism, Film Production, Radio Production) and student journalism such as New Trier News and WNTH.Provides out-of-class technical support for student projects and faculty initiatives.Creates and helps students create multimedia products that fosters brand ownership, identity and loyalty for the District.Attends curriculum planning meetings with Media & Journalism teachers.All other duties as assigned.
