Job Description:
We are seeking a talented forward-thinking Data Visualization Engineer for its Navy Readiness Reporting Enterprise - Business Intelligence (NRRE-BI) project. The ideal candidate will possess a variety of current analytics/reporting technology skills and be open-minded to learning new technologies and best practices. As a Data Visualization Engineer, you will be responsible for daily development activities including but not limited to analyzing requirements, designing and developing software solutions, and participating in code reviews. More importantly, you will be part of a collaborative team of software developers, working closely with an Architect, a team of Business Analysts, Test and System Engineering teams, and reporting to a Project Manager. Your role will involve not only following up on assigned tasking and training and mentoring the team, but also actively contributing to the team's success.
Role and Responsibilities include:
Design and develop enterprise-grade data visualizations for a wide range of users and at different levels of expertise.Work closely with product management, user experience architects, and subject matter experts to identify, define, and manage the implementation of data visualization product capabilities.Work with user experience in the ideation and design of visualization prototypes.Collaborate with solutions architects and data engineers to build scalable ETL pipelines that integrate data from heterogeneous data sources to support visualization.Educate product management and user experience architects on each BI tool's limitations, strengths, and weaknesses.Communicate best practices for designing and implementing data visualizations through tutorials, blog articles, help documentation, videos, and presentations.Here's what you need:
7 plus years related experienceExperience with at least one BI tool (IBM Cognos Analytics, Qlik or Microsoft Power BI preferred)Web development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and visualization libraries such as d3.jsSolid understanding of user-centered design principlesSolid understanding of graphical design principlesExperience with Git, or a similar distributed version-control systemBonus Points if you have:
Experience developing custom visualizations specifically for one or more BI toolsTypescript, NodeJS, SQLVega or Vega-LiteExperience working in a Business Intelligence teamExperience with a notebook technologyMilitary, specifically Navy experience is desired, though not requiredEducation:
BS in CS or Engineering plus 7 years of related experience.Work Schedule:
Norfolk VA, Hybrid role to be located in the Norfolk area.Clearance Requirements:
The ability to obtain a Secret level clearance
