UX Engineer II

This is a 6 month + contract position located in Mountain View, CA.

Summary:

Make direct design or front-end engineering contributions by delivering pieces of front-end engineering or design contribution that is within the scope of a larger project under guidance.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to providing lightweight solutions that enable the team to be more efficient or effective.Execute prioritized project work using appropriate approaches from clear options to address technical or design challenges under some guidance from manager or senior team members, with expected iterations.Challenge

pply standard tools, resources, and processes to solve familiar, pre-defined interface design and implementation problems assigned by a team or manager.Escalate complex challenges to senior team members or managers when appropriate.

Influence

Work in a team setting by sharing knowledge when relevant to assigned area of work or functional area.Develop working relationships outside own team to contribute to cross-project collaborations.Follow direction on timing, goals, and objectives within the scope of a larger project.Work with cross-project teams to develop new product features and generate new ideas.ExpertiseDemonstrate foundational knowledge of UX engineering principles that support the ability to push front-end excellence with an awareness of when to seek additional support and guidance.Begin to develop proficiency in user-centered product development, user experience principles, and primary engineering practices.Constantly seek opportunities to expand skills and responsibilities.

Design implementation

Support the user experience design for a product by helping develop and iterate concepts, providing technical input, and engaging relevant stakeholders (e.g., designers, software engineers, product managers) with some guidance.

Technical liaison

ct as a technical liaison to collaborate with engineers and designers.

Technical validation/feasibility

Help evaluate the potential and feasibility of maintaining existing or building new technologies by prototyping and integrating significant feedback across projects.

UX problem analysis

nalyze potential risks and obstacles with some guidance.

UX project planning/execution

Participate in project meetings with stakeholders (e.g., product managers, researchers).

User experience engineering

Provide full support in implementing, developing, and/or updating the user experience by writing code and performing validation under some guidance.

User experience systems

Contribute to projects by integrating user interface components/design and developing a new component system with some guidance.

Requirements:

Documentation

bility to appropriately document technical systems or design specifications and processes to promote knowledge transfer to others.

Domain-specific knowledge and skills

bility to develop, understand, and apply domain-specific technical knowledge to complete assigned work, tasks, and support others in the organization.

Programming

Knowledge of programming languages. This includes programming practices, major features and capabilities, and system management tools.

Technical exploration/prototyping

bility to develop and/or propose proof of concepts, including the ability to develop prototypes from functional/technical specifications.

UX engineering platform knowledge

Knowledge of engineering platforms (e.g., Android, iOS, web) and how to optimize performance to improve animation frame rate and UI fidelity. This also includes the ability to choose the platform to solve problems based on its strengths and limitations.

User behavior

Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of users and their goals with regards to the problem being solved. This includes the knowledge of how user behavior informs product design and development.

Pay rate range:

$66.26 - $81.37 hourly
