Job:Health Promotion and Education Coordinator

Job Summary:As part of the Francine A. LeFrak Center for Well-Being and reporting to the Executive Director of the LeFrak Center, the Health Promotion and Education Coordinator (HPEC) works to provide health education and health promotion services in the areas outlined below.

Job Description:Health Education and Promotion:

In collaboration with Health and Wellness leadership, create, develop, implement, and evaluate campus-wide health education and promotion programs, including but not limited to reproductive health (with a reproductive justice lens), mental health, nutrition and exercise, stress management, body image, self-esteem, sexual health, and healthy relationships. This programming will be centered at the LeFrak Center for Well-Being and will work collaboratively with other team members and leadership of the Center.Direct and manage the recruitment, training, coordination, and ongoing support of the activities of the Wellness Spot peer education student group.Work collaboratively with the LeFrak Center team and leadership in supporting and training other student peers in the Center.Work collaboratively with the LeFrak Center leadership to manage and budget for Health Education programming.Monitor all health education materials distributed by the Wellness Spot and other health promotion programs and assist in developing new materials as needed. Create informational handouts, posters, bulletin boards, social media and website content, and maintain the patient education library.Assist in outreach on campus by working collaboratively with other LeFrak Center team members and leadership to engage other campus partners (e.g., SEE, ACCESS Barnard, Being Barnard, ASAP, etc.).Work with Health & Wellness leadership and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to support the collection and assessment of data from various surveys conducted on the college campus - such as the National College Health Assessment.Conduct literature searches and provide updated information and summaries as needed on wellness topics of concern to undergraduate students and overall college communities.Maintain records and statistics of activities of the Wellness Spot program.Provide wellness workshops and presentations to the campus community (can include incoming students, current students, alums, staff, and faculty).Coordinate logistics and arrangements for Wellness Spot activities and events.Represent Wellness Spot and the LeFrak Center at various campus events and through community outreach activities.Participate in campus needs assessments and assessment of learning outcomes related to peer educator workshops and other Wellness Spot activities.Sustain professional development in evidence-based health promotion practices, interventions, and strategies.Oversee and maintain the calendar of health promotion events, including the Wellness Spot, Being Barnard, ASAP, and other LeFrak Center programming. Develop a system to track attendance and feedback for quarterly reports to Health & Wellness leadership.Other duties as assigned.Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor degree in health education, public health, or a similar social or behavioral science field leading to an understanding of individual and population-based health planningMinimum of 2 years of professional work experience in a health promotion environmentDemonstrated knowledge of social and macro influences on health behavior with the ability to analyze high-risk health behaviors in a university population as they relate to health education, promotion, and risk reduction strategiesManagerial Skills in leading teams of both students and employeesDemonstrated knowledge of current and traditional theories in health education and health promotion through effective intervention strategiesCreativity, imagination, ability to work both in collaboration with others and independentlyExcellent communication skills with proven ability to present engaging oral presentations to large groups of students and professionalsMust be able to facilitate meetings and groupsExcellent organizational skillsComputer proficiency for own useDemonstrated commitment to incorporating issues of diversity, equity, and belonging in every aspect of the health promotion programCertified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certificate is preferred.

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $70,000 annually

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
