(Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988)Position InformationClass Code: S069CGrade: GS05FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPTSalary Range: $32,405.00 - $46,987.00SummaryThe Radio Dispatch Operator is responsible for receiving and making calls via radio or telephone and maintaining communication records and logs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsReceives radio and/or telephone calls concerning building maintenance, parking control, transit operations, emergency situations, or inquires from the general public. Interviews callers to obtain information, creates maintenance work orders, enters parking violation information into computer database, and offers assistance on directions, procedures, and schedules. Relays information to appropriate departmental personnel, such as building maintenance staff, parking control officers, transit bus drivers, and paratransit van drivers. Records or enters information into log and/or computer database. Compiles information from log or database into reports. Receives payments and maintains accounts on parking fees and fines. Performs other duties as assigned.DimensionsNoneKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of communication procedures and federal rules and regulations concerning radio and telephone transmissions. Ability to operate communications equipment. Ability to maintain logs and records. Ability to communicate in oral and written form.Minimum QualificationsThe formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in operating communication equipment or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
