Overview:
Position Summary:Nusano has an exciting opportunity for a CAD Designer at the mid or senior level to support the West Valley City Production Facility in Utah. The CAD Designer will work with Engineering, Radiochemistry, and Facilities to develop and manage design documentation in SolidWorks PDM. CAD models include components, assemblies, and full systems for particle accelerators, nuclear reactor targets, isotope separation, machine layout planning, and supporting structures like hot cells and radiation shielding. This team member will plan, lay out, draw, and revise part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings and provide valuable input to an integrated multi-disciplinary team.Responsibilities:What You'll Do:Work within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and architectsManage large machine-scale assemblies in SolidWorksCreate 3D models from conceptual designsCreate detailed engineering drawings, 2D fabrication prints, and schematicsEnsure correct GD&T of custom parts, castings, machine parts, sheet metal components and weldmentsManage design configuration through SolidWorks PDMProvide input to design regarding manufacturability, functionality, and usabilityOptimize hardware designs for strength, cost, standardization, and other factorsCoordinate with design team, manufacturers, and vendors to determine appropriate manufacturing process for designed hardwareMentor and coordinate work with junior CAD draftersQualifications:Minimum Requirements:Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in creating models and prints of mechanical parts and assemblies using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling softwareHigh proficiency using SolidWorks or equivalentProficiency using SolidWorks or equivalent standard librariesProficiency using SolidWorks PDM or equivalent vault systemsStrong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communications skillsPreferred Requirements:Bachelor's or master's degree in a related fieldDemonstrated experience managing complex assemblies and systems in SolidWorks PDMCertification such as CSWA or CSWPExperience with Autodesk Revit or other architectural CAD softwareExperience in product development or systems design.Experience with radioisotopes, nuclear reactors, particle accelerators, or medical devicesExperience with FEA and other design optimization toolsExperience applying GD&T to high-precision, high-performance partsExperience delivering urgent design updates with short turnaround timeExperience designing within strict industry guidelines or government regulations (ANSI, FDA, etc.)Physical Requirements:Must be comfortable working in a facility that produces radiation.Work to be conducted in both an office environment and the production facility.Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
