Overview

The Multimedia Specialist designs and develops audiovisual, multimedia and graphics projects supporting the bureau's internal/external communications goals and objectives. This position requires the incumbent to work closely with directorates and offices, and subject matter experts to design and develop dynamic multimedia content to showcase the Diplomatic Security Service in support of broader communications goals and objectives. The incumbent will work under some supervision and has the opportunity to exercise independent judgement and initiative.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in the concept development, planning, and execution of dynamic multimedia content for multiple digital platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.• Manages technical projects including connectivity, Audio/Visual equipment management, visual displays and still and video shooting and editing.• Provides video and still camera and editing support for various bureau directorates and offices.• Researches and collects supporting multimedia materials needed to develop dynamic internal and external content.• Supports bureau directorates and offices in the development of digital displays and presentations in any required mode.• Maintains and manages document control of all current and revised digital multimedia materials.• Shoots video at offsite locations, re-touching and formatting images in a variety of digital formats.• Edits video/audio for internal/external communications platforms.• Oversees video production, video editing, and video animation, in coordination with subject matter experts.• Creates multimedia products (videos, reels, animation) for social media platforms.• Creates content for digital media; expert in digital editing, audio capture/editing, video production process, motion graphics.• Advises on acquisition of new multimedia equipment and materials.• Directs the set up and operation of digital live and recorded events, including hybrid events.• Occasional local travel may be required.• May work independently on small ( PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• Must be a US citizen, and possess at a minimum, a Secret security clearance, with eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.• Possess associate or bachelor degree in computer graphics, multimedia, animation, videography, or related field, or seven years of work experience with five years of demonstrated experience in one of the above fields. Two years of relevant experience and/or relevant coursework in addition to the requirements may be substituted for the Associates degree. Professional certifications such as CGFM, CSA, or PMP are appropriate for some positions and can also substitute for a year of experience when applicable.• At least five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferably in a public affairs environment.• Demonstrated knowledge in the use of digital graphics and image editing software, and desktop publishing programs.• Intermediate knowledge of digital videography including editing and video camera operation.• Intermediate knowledge of a variety of methods, techniques and materials used in the design, production and reproduction of visual products.• Maintains professional competence and specialized knowledge base by keeping abreast of emerging themes and best practices in multimedia and graphics methodology.• Basic understanding of computer gaming systems.• Intermediate computer software and hardware skills including networks.• Excellent writing and proofreading skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Must be proficient in digital photography and video recording.• Must be proficient in Windows Professional Operating Systems and/or IOS, particularly, Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
