The Mechanical Designer's primary job function is to design and document custom test fixtures per the customer's requirements. Then, after all the parts are procured or machined, you will assemble and test your designs prior to shipping to the customer.

Principal Responsibilities:Work with management to develop solutions that are the basis of customer proposals.Manage complete projects for each custom design, including designing, issuing procurement requests, organizing the project tools and materials, cooperatively working with machinists for quality custom components, assembling the final fixtures and jigs per the customer's requirement, completing the documentation package.Develop 3D models and/or 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCad for designs leveraging design experience, department design standards and best practices.Coordinate with customers to understand requirements and their testing environment.Provide design and drafting support across the organization as neededApply working knowledge of standard testing processes, common materials, and components used in design projects.Provide machining supportAssist other designers

Experience Requirements:

3-5 years experience in mechanical design3-5 years experience using Solidworks(or more with Inventor)Working knowledge of Microsoft Word,Excel, and Outlook, etc.Attention to detailTrack record of meeting design requirements and project timelinesMechanical assembly experience and high mechanical aptitudeWorking knowledge of Solid Works design methods including drawing formats, templates, start parts and assemblies, custom properties, BOMs, top-down design methods, libraries, etc.Working knowledge of manufacturing technologies: milling, drilling, turning, deburring, welding, sheet metal, metal finishing, etc.Soldering, wiring, and wire management.Creative problem-solving skillsAbility to manage dynamic workload and prioritize tasks efficiently.
