Job Summary

Graphic designer for the monthly student magazine the Ke Alaka'i. We are looking for junior and senior graphic design majors who are knowledgeable in Abobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Works with design team and other Ke Alaka'i employees to design pages, graphics and infographics for the magazine as well as the Ke Alaka'i website and social media. This job also includes multimedia training and projects done both individually and in teams. Flexible work hours but candidates must be able to manage their own time and meet deadlines. Also attends three planning and training meetings a week. Applicants should have a portfolio and will be asked to complete a sample two-page layout and create an infographic as part of the hiring process.

Primary ResponsibilitiesDetermine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type.Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Web sites.Use computer software to generate new images.Performs other duties as assigned.
