Deputy DirectorABOUT ABICThe American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) is active in key states and communities across the country, engaging activists, advocates, business leaders, and elected officials on the urgency of passing immigration reform that boosts our economy, creates jobs, eases the labor shortage, and supports families. The goal of our bipartisan coalition of over 1200+ diverse businesses and business associations is to provide a strong and effective voice seeking sensible immigration reforms to grow our economy and strengthen our families.ABIC partners include CEOs, retired CEOs, business associations, small business owners as well as hospitals and universities. ABIC works in partnership with diverse immigrant advocates to support pro-immigrant legislation at the state and federal levels. https://abic.us.POSITION SUMMARYABIC is seeking a seasoned, politically astute, and deeply passionate individual for the position of Communications Director.Candidates must possess strong writing and organizational skills, a background in traditional and digital media, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines. Ideal candidates will have previous campaign and/or advocacy experience and a general familiarity with immigration policy. Candidates should also possess the skills necessary to communicate policy issues to diverse audiences through multiple platforms.PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and drive communications strategy and narrative aligned with ABIC’s missionTrack political landscape and developments in all federal and key states across the country, identifying potential opportunities for ABIC staff and coalition partners to interact with the press, and elevate their local and national voicesDrive the creation of messaging and materials to disseminate to a variety of audiences to encourage and facilitate the use of unified messages in campaignsOversee all communications components, including media relations, digital campaigns, message research and development, and content creation, in support of field organizing, advocacy, and programmatic initiativesBe an active member of ABIC’s Senior Leadership Team including helping to build best organizational practices as the organization growsTrain and mentor a growing communications team of three (Deputy Communications Director, Media Relations Specialist, and Social Media/Digital Manager)Train and mentor state teams on strategic communications, social media, press appearances, etc. as neededBuild and maintain strong relationships with organizational allies around the campaign and political strategyEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:Proven commitment to and an understanding of immigration policiesExperience creating communications materials and strategies targeting varied audiences including conservative and policy-makersStrong understanding of national and state political and electoral landscape and how best to make a strategic impact at scaleSignificant communications, press, social media/digital organizing experience with a

minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a senior role and/or at minimum two election cycles in a senior role in either a candidate campaign(s), an advocacy organization, issue campaign, or a PAC, preferably managing large scale or statewide issue or political campaignsExperience with managing teams, supporting strong morale, and developing staffAn independent and strong leader who is able to drive projects and programs to completion in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to coalition building to advance victoriesStrong strategic and campaign planning skills and commitment to ongoing processes that ensure transparency and efficiency in carrying out the workA strong ability to work closely with grass tops and grassroots leadersProficient with political data, polling, latest technologies, and best practices in the field, campaigns
