Your role in helping us shape the future:

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. In this position you will have the opportunity to leverage your strengths and skills to help people make smart decisions about the things that really matter. The 360 Reviews Sleep Editor will drive our coverage of feature and advice content for all things sleep. The 360 Reviews team operates as a startup within the larger U.S. News organization, giving it a fast-moving, innovative culture, along with the stability of an established and respected media company. The 360 Reviews Sleep Editor will have the opportunity to have a real impact on the development and direction of a U.S. News product.

Collaborating with an enthusiastic team of product managers, SEO and Research analysts and Home Goods editors, the Sleep Editor will establish, manage and edit content that includes in-depth guides and product profile pages.

Are you up to the challenge?
  • Create and update content templates and outlines that maximize SEO and data analysis
  • Continually optimize and update sleep and mattress pages to gain and maintain high search rank
  • Collaborate with the SEO team to create content plans and editorial calendars
  • Develop and manage a stable of top-notch freelance writers in the sleep category
  • Assign content to subject matter expertise freelance writers
  • Fact check and edit sleep content for flow, consistency, tone, audience, brevity and accuracy. Copy edit content for grammar, spelling, AP style, punctuation, keywords and formatting
  • Write and pitch key pages and content
  • Analyze sleep data, survey data, and quotes from our testers and distill into helpful shopping advice
Position Requirements
You should definitely have:
  • 3 to 5 years of similar or related experience in professional commerce editing and strong copy editing skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • A love of sleep and helping consumers make smart choices
  • Experience with AirTable or equivalent project management platforms, and CMS
  • Experience writing and editing for SEO
  • Familiarity with working with freelancers, including managing assignments and invoices
  • Expertise and prior experience using AP style
  • Self-starter who can identify opportunities to improve content and better engage our audience
  • Collaborate with the research team to upgrade and improve testing methods and data
  • Ability to manage your own project timelines and meet multiple deadlines
  • Good communication skills, both with colleagues and freelance contributors.
  • Availability to travel occasionally to our Salt Lake City lab to test mattresses
It would be nice if you had:
  • Experience in product testing, specifically in the sleep category
  • Experience conducting competitor SERP analysis to help plan content strategy and updates
  • Experience creating text for graphics and images

  • The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $60,000 to $85,000.
    The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
