Job Summary

The role of the Marketing Director is both strategic and tactical. This individual is responsible for developing strategic marketing and communications plans under the oversight of the Vice President of Marketing and overseeing the day-to-day execution. This individual collaborates with business line leaders to develop messaging across the Federal portfolio and create communications plans that identify objectives, strategy, tactics and timelines aligning with overall strategic growth. As a senior member of the marketing department, this individual will coordinate creative content development, execution and reporting across department staff. The ideal candidate possesses excellent writing, communication and organizational skills and has a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service to internal clients. This individual is a continuous learner and implements leading marketing practices into their work.
Role Specific Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-Partner with business line leads to enable them to develop and execute marketing and communications programs that achieve or exceed specific business objectives. Build knowledge and expertise of the industry and Maximus services to build trust as a strategic advisor to senior leadership
-Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies, tactics, and intelligence to help the company’s business development and operations teams’ position for future growth
-Focus and align communications around the MAXIMUS brand and value proposition we deliver to our clients.
-Develop a deep understanding of Maximus services and be able to create clear, concise communications supporting the Maximus brand to a wide variety of audiences with different levels of understanding.
-Create compelling, effective marketing programs encompassing print, digital, public relations, event, and all other communications tactics.
-Ensure sales team have ready access to the most current communications/sales tools.
-Manage public relations and crisis communications in collaboration with the SVP of Corporate Communications.
-Provide leadership direct supervision and management of the marketing team members through effective coaching, accountability, and performance management.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Specific Requirements & Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree from and accredited college or university is required, preferably in Business, Communications, Public Relations or English required.
-Minimum of ten years of experience in a marketing or business environment required.
-Work experience in solutions or consulting services with emphasis on communications, media relations and thought leadership writing for government audience preferred.
-Proven track record of meeting and exceeding expectations in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
-Experience in providing informed recommendations to senior- level management.
-Exceptional writing and editing skills required.
-Expert use of Microsoft Suite required; proficient at Social & Paid Media, CRM.

  • Ability to travel as required (less than 20%).

Education and Experience Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain credibility and authority to become a strategic advisor and partner with business line leads — enabling him or her to develop and execute marketing and communications programs to achieve or exceed specific business objectives.
  • Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies, tactic, and intelligence to help the Company’s business development and operations teams position for future work.
  • Focus and align all communications around the MAXIMUS brand as well as value proposition and brand promise we offer our clients.
  • Assist in and support the management of the marketing function.
  • Increase awareness and preference for the MAXIMUS brand, which encompasses our reputation (or behaviors our clients can expect from us), visual image, and corporate personality.
  • Create compelling, effective marketing programs encompassing print, Web, public relations, event, and all other communications tactics.
  • Support the sales process by ensuring sales team has ready access to communications/sales tools.
  • Manage public relations and crisis communications.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company.
  • Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company.
  • Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
  • Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers.
  • Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Reports to Senior Director or VP level.
