Are you interested in being an integral part of an agency that is growing and earning new recognitions? H/L is on the hunt for a Content Strategist to help us elevate our digital storytelling across both agency initiatives and client content needs. Join us and be part of a collaborative and dynamic environment!
You'll have the chance to team up with Brand Strategy, Creative, New Business, Paid Social Media, and more. This hybrid role is tied to our Oakland, California office, where you'll be on-site as needed for scheduled productions and to support our agency and client content needs.
The Content Strategist reports to the VP, Director of Brand Strategy, and the Associate Strategy Director. This role will be a 6-month temporary basis, with the possibility for extension.
What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with members of the New Business team and our agency PR partner to identify opportunities to produce content and stories that continually distinguish H/L from competitors. Often, you'll be the person to define and execute agency content strategies; occasionally, you may be asked to ghostwrite articles for agency leadership
  • Partner with our Brand Strategy, Paid Social Media, and Creative teams to create content strategies that are audience-relevant and effective; create, manage, or contribute to complex editorial calendars for both our agency social channels and client content needs
  • Help define consumer journeys and paths-to-purchase for our client partners, identifying opportunities to produce valuable content across those journeys to drive consumers to action
  • Produce rich, evocative creative briefs for content ideation and production; partner directly with those Creative teams to produce the most impactful content possible
  • Other duties as assigned
About you:
  • You've got 3 to 5 years of experience within an agency environment as a content strategist, social strategist, or comms planner; alternatively, you've got 3 to 5 years of experience as a journalist or content producer for an internal editorial team
  • You're a strong, persuasive communicator who loves storytelling. You write confidently and passionately, distill complex ideas into simple narratives, and organize your thoughts effectively
  • You know how to align individual content tactics with a bigger brand strategy, ensuring they serve the broader goals for our clients or our agency
  • You've got a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study like journalism, advertising, or marketing
  • Got work samples to showcase your creativity? We'd love to see them!

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to provide an individual response to every candidate.
