Rutgers University Foundation and the R Fund (Athletics) seek an enthusiastic, collaborative, and resourceful development professional to serve as Director of Marketing and Communications, R Fund. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engagement, R Fund, the Director will execute on a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy in collaboration with Athletics and Foundation to enhance the R Fund brand while increasing the engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship opportunities with supporters of Rutgers Athletics. The Director will work collaboratively with members of the Rutgers University Foundation and Rutgers University Athletics staff to execute the strategy to increase brand awareness and the overall experience for the 10,000 and growing annual philanthropic supporters of Rutgers Athletics. The director will analyze data and stay current with national trends to maximize potential impact for the Rutgers community.
Essential Functions

  • Manage an integrated marketing communications plan for the R Fund including direct mail appeals, e-solicitations, social media, website, etc.
  • Support the R Fund premium & corporate and the major gift teams to assist in brand advancement and the execution of the R Fund Strategic Plan.
  • Implement a yearly calendar of a multi-channel communications plan, including engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to our R Fund members.
  • Lead strategy on execution and implementation of R Fund branding into all Rutgers game day experiences and special events, working directly with Athletics game presentation and marketing staff.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Assistant Director of Digital Engagement to successfully increase the R Fund brand visibility and membership while efficiently communicating internally and externally to all appropriate constituents.
  • Execute the annual fund strategy by implementing marketing and digital engagement tools to enhance the visibility of the R Fund while positively impacting the department goals for new gifts and commitments (NGC) and donor engagement.
  • Work closely with central foundation and athletics to execute the R Fund annual strategy adhering to measurable goals, strategies/tactics, and metrics to promote the R Fund pathways (R Big Build & R Student Success).
  • Execute yearly initiatives designed to increase donor engagement.

Education/ Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in alumni engagement, advancement, non-profit or higher education. Master's degree preferred.

Working Conditions

This position requires little physical effort. Will work evenings, weekends, or odd hours to meet resource-raising commitments. Typical working conditions with an absence of disagreeable elements. This position requires some early mornings and late evenings to accommodate meetings, travel, events, and external constituent's schedules.

Workplace Arrangements

This is classified as an office-centric hybrid position. Colleagues working under an office-centric hybrid arrangement have a primary workstation in a university or foundation location and are in the office between one and five days a week. The frequency with which they are present in the office depends on their role and function and the interdependency of other functions. On average, there is a need to be in the office often to facilitate personal interaction - likely 3 or more days per week.
