PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Director of Marketing will work closely with the Vice President of Marketing in developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives to drive brand awareness, guest engagement, and revenue growth for Deer Valley Resort. This role involves leading the marketing team, managing paid media campaigns, and building and managing integrated marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a proven track record in leading successful marketing efforts, managing diverse teams, and optimizing marketing investments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Marketing to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with Deer Valley's goals and brand vision.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and guest feedback to inform marketing strategies and initiatives.
  • Build relationships and trust with multiple business unit leaders, including Food & Beverage, Lodging, Sales, Communications, HR, Mountain Operations, and more. Serve as the primary liaison for the marketing team to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
  • Monitor marketing campaign performance and provide regular reports to business unit leaders, highlighting key insights and recommending improvements for future campaigns.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage all traditional marketing projects and provide oversight on integrated marketing campaigns within the marketing department, ensuring timely execution, adherence to deadlines, and successful outcomes.
  • Support the Vice President of Marketing in various projects as assigned.

Paid Media Management:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team and agencies to develop and oversee paid media campaigns, including digital advertising, social media, search engine marketing, and traditional media.
  • Optimize media spend to maximize ROI and achieve marketing objectives.
  • Analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Integrated Marketing Campaigns:

  • Oversee the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, guest engagement, and revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective campaign execution.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling marketing content, including copy, visuals, videos, and other multimedia assets.

Brand Management:

  • Ensure consistency and alignment of all marketing efforts with Deer Valley Resort's brand identity and messaging.
  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines and standards across all marketing channels and touchpoints.
  • Monitor and protect the resort's brand reputation through proactive and reactive marketing efforts.
  • Manage brand research projects to gain insights into market trends, customer preferences, and brand perception.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Represent Deer Valley at industry events, conferences, and trade shows when applicable.
  • Collaborate with Alterra Mountain Company's marketing team to align resort-specific marketing efforts with broader company initiatives.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Track and report on budget performance, adjusting as necessary to optimize spending.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading marketing teams and managing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Strong expertise in managing paid media campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in marketing technologies and tools, including analytics platforms, CRM systems, and digital marketing tools.
  • Experience in the hospitality, tourism, or ski industry is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to work on weekends and attend early morning or late evening events as needed.
  • Availability to travel to domestic and international media events, meetings, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Intermediate or above skiing ability a plus.
PAY RATE:
  • Pay: $125,000 - 135,000 per year
