**Compensation Range for This Position
Is $86,000 - $90,000
Mercy Ships is seeking a
Global Public Relations Director
to serve on-site in one of our national office locations (such as United States (Texas), Holland, UK, Africa, or Switzerland). In this position you'll have the opportunity to support the Global Brand Development Department initiatives of Mercy Ships to ensure continued delivery of hope to those in need through oversight and direction of the ministry’s Global Public Relations strategy.
How You’ll Contribute
Develop a global strategic public relation plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics.
Increase the share of voice of Mercy Ships as the unique, international, faith-based NGO providing surgical care and surgical education.
Nurture and further develop existing relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in relevant touchpoints.
Coordinate global public relations activities related to global topics/events.
Work w/ global social media teams to engage traditional/new media audiences.
Lead Global PR work groups to enhance knowledge and inspire national earned media activities.
Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media.
Research, develop, and execute media placement.
Manage media inquiries and interview requests.
Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations.
Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a monthly basis and where needed topic specific.
Evaluate opportunities for media partnerships on an on-going basis.
Build relationships with thought leaders to grow awareness with the global surgery ecosystem.
Place Mercy Ships spokespersons on strategic platforms to support Global PR strategy.
Work with agency partners and manage a public relations coordinator.
Work with Brand Coms director on brand reputation management.
Maintain understanding of industry trends affecting clients, making appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.
International/Domestic travel required ( ~2 international trips to a vessel/~2 trips to the International Headquarters in Lindale, Texas/year )

Solid written, verbal and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience in public relations field required; international context preferred.
Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level.
Strong relationships with local and national business/industry media outlets.
Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews.
Exceptional writing and editing skills.
English Mother tongue, Fluent in French or German preferred.
Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability.
Education & Experience
MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, or Communications.
10 years’ global PR experience in an international corporate setting with proven results.
Media pitching experience.
Event planning experience.
Experience with using industry tools to build media lists.
Experience using social media platforms as a media relations tool.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Experience with Meltwater and Cission desirable.
Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
