Summary:

The Art Director at Baylor Genetics plays a pivotal role in leading the visual aspects of all marketing, branding, and communication initiatives. This position is responsible for overseeing and driving the design efforts across various touchpoints including websites, conferences, print materials, social media, corporate communications, and more. The Art Director will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure that our visual storytelling aligns with our brand values and effectively communicates our scientific advancements. Success in this role requires strong leadership in design, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to maintaining a cohesive visual identity across all platforms.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, or a related field; advanced degree (MFA) preferred.Minimum of 7 years of experience in graphic design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior design role.Proven expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design software/tools.Strong portfolio showcasing creative and innovative design solutions across various platforms and media.Excellent understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and visual storytelling.Ability to think strategically, solve complex design challenges, and articulate creative concepts to stakeholders.Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.Experience in healthcare, biotechnology, or scientific fields is a plus.Responsibilities:

Leadership in Design:

Lead and inspire the design team (if applicable) in developing innovative and creative visual concepts that align with the brand’s strategic objectives.Direct the overall design strategy and ensure consistency in visual messaging across all channels and platforms.

Brand Management:Maintain and evolve the visual brand identity, ensuring it reflects the organization’s values, mission, and scientific advancements.Collaborate with marketing, communications, and scientific teams to translate complex concepts into compelling visual narratives.Creative Development:Conceptualize and develop creative ideas and campaigns that enhance brand awareness and engagement.Oversee the design process from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet objectives and timelines.Cross-functional Collaboration:Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements, audience insights, and strategic goals.Partner with external vendors, agencies, and freelancers as needed to execute design projects effectively.Quality Assurance:Review and approve artwork, graphics, and final layouts to ensure they meet brand guidelines and quality standards.Conduct regular audits of design materials to maintain consistency and excellence in visual execution.Professional Development:Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in design and digital media.Mentor and coach junior designers (if applicable), fostering their growth and development within the organization.Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Frequently required to sit, stand, and use hands to manipulate or feel objects, tools, or controls.Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work may involve exposure to various environmental factors such as noise, dust, and chemicals.
