Job purpose
The Industrial Designer will work on compartment layouts using a 3D configurator. This position ensures the department gear, and tools are being stored efficiently in their respective compartments. This position includes working with 2D and 3D plans and often involves the modification of digital designs to ensure accuracy and quality.
Duties and responsibilitiesProcess customer preliminary designs or concepts of fire truck compartment configurations as quickly and accurately as possibleConsult with customers to determine requirements for designCompleting layouts and concepts in a timely mannerLiaison with customers when required to ensure drawings and necessary information required to configure the compartments effectively and efficiently are accurateEnsure the departments gear and tools are stored efficiently with the best use of compartment spaceParticipate in meetings with customer to understand the scope of the compartment configuration project to deliver effective solutionWork with cross-functional teams to reduce costs and provide efficient solutionSupport training and development of fellow employees in pursuit of expanding knowledgeSupport business needs in current position and other departments as neededMinimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design preferredMust be legally eligible to work in United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.Willingness to undergo a background check and drug testQualifications and Experience
Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, Inventor)Must be able to read blueprints and interpret drawing detailsKnowledge and/or experience in the sheet metal industry and fabrication is desirable, but not essential.Possess strong numerical and analytical skillsAbility to communicate with multiple departments to ensure delivery and project dates are kept.Must be proficient in MS Office applicationsGreat attention to detail and problem-solving abilitiesHighly motivated and self-driven individualCreativeExcellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skillsAbility to work under pressure with tight deadlinesProactive, hands-on approach and positive attitudeWillingness to learn, improve, and adaptWorking conditions
