Senior Video Software Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for development and test of Linux-based Nvidia Jetson software that controls the Triton robot’s camera, video processing, and applications of our video data. Work together with our Vision Hardware, Robotics Software, Vision Algorithms, and Deep Learning teams to give surgeons a rich, multimodal, and immersive clinical experience that will set new standards in patient care. Work with the software team to make our video software product-focused and rock-solid, rigorously designed, implemented, and tested to meet medical-grade safety standards.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop, document, verify, and continuously improve software for video pipelines using Nvidia Jetson embedded systems: control cameras and display low-latency video, archive video, composite video streams, and share video and camera metadata.
Work with deep-learning and computer-vision algorithms engineers to integrate new processing capabilities and AI applications
Integrate new hardware and software to provision for continuous improvements in resolution, image quality, HDR, and color spaces
Develop latency budget, measure and continuously improve latency contributions of all pipeline stages including image sensor, SerDes, ISP, compositing, and display. Implement and maintain streaming and compression techniques for fast, efficient transmission
Work with Software team on Light Engine and controls for auto-exposure, brightness and color-balance, and special user modes like chromo-endoscopy
Help build tools for image quality validation, latency diagnostics, and simulations
Work with Software team to ensure robust fault tolerance, with fast and safe recovery
Work with Software team to ensure compliance with best practices for documentation, version-control, and software provenance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field
4-7+ years experience (or 3-6+ years with an MS) developing software applications for hardware-centric systems
Robust knowledge of C++, and Python programming languages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with programming and configuration of embedded Linux systems
Experience using Docker and other tools to manage complex software stacks
Experience with video and image coding principles and compression standards
Experience with programming imaging devices such as image sensors, cameras, and displays
Familiarity with GPU programming and optimization (CUDA, OpenCL)
Knowledge of image-processing, computer vision, or machine learning
Experience with designing software products for mission-critical applications in compliance environments like medical, avionics, automotive, etc.
Experience with Nvidia Jetson platform
Triton Robotics is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART Station.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $170,000 and $205,000 depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity, benefits and 401(K) with matching.
