Design Manager

CAVA is a rapidly expanding fast-casual restaurant and CPG brandfocusing on fresh, Mediterranean-inspired, better-for-you cuisine. Born fromour full-service restaurants, our chef-driven fast-casual format is currentlyin four states with further expansion ahead. We are looking for a DesignManager to join the Development Group at CAVA, helping us reach new communitieswith each new location.

What You’ll Do

Responsiblefor performing, coordinating, and/or managing design activities duringpre-lease and design phases for the national expansion of CAVA restaurants andCAVA Products production facilities.AssistReal Estate team in the evaluation of prospective locations and providefeedback on draft Letter of Intent and/or Landlord Work Letter. Provide initialtest fits and lease exhibits for sites.Coordinateinternal meetings with cross-functional partners for final design approval.Prepareinitial project schedules in conjunction with internal stakeholders forreview/approval by corporate leadership.ManageDesign Consultants’ project contracts, scope of work, and schedules. Review andensure consultant deliverables are in accordance with design and brandstandards.Workwith internal development partners and Design Consultants to prepare fullproject due diligence reports.Coordinatewith Utility Consultants during due diligence. Review site reports withDesign/Engineering Consultants to provide scope of work assessments to projectteam.ModerateProject Kick-Off meetings with internal stakeholders and Consultants.Reviewand coordinate Landlord’s scope of work with Design Consultants’ ConstructionDocuments.Coordinatedesign activities by various vendors during design phase, including architect,MEP engineer, kitchen equipment vendor, internal/external signage vendor(s),millwork fabricator, etc.Reviewdesign documents and specifications and facilitate various reviews by CAVA teammembers.AssistConstruction Managers to validate project budgets are in accordance with scopeof work.FacilitateLandlord approvals of CAVA’s design, as required.Workwith licensed Consultants to oversee jurisdictional approvals and buildingpermits are obtained for projects. Attend jurisdictional approval meetings topresent designs, as required.Travelto restaurant sites in any CAVA/Zoe’s Kitchen markets and attend constructionprogress meetings as needed, to ensure brand standards and project requirementsare met.Partnerwith Construction team to resolve on-site issues, provide sketches andresponses as necessary to Contractor RFI’s.Maintaindetailed files for all projects in accordance with CAVA filing standards.Collaboratewith internal partners to evaluate and enhance brand recognition and designstandards.AssistDepartment leadership in various brand initiatives that may includeconcept/schematic design, interior and industrial design.AssistDepartment leadership with design presentations and R&D.Identifyopportunities for the use of new technology and materials.

The Qualifications

Minimum 5 years’ post-collegiateexperience designing hospitality/retail/restaurant projects.Minimum 2 years’ experience working fora company with a roll-out program (retail/restaurants/hospitality).Minimum 1 years’ experience overseeingthe design of restaurant or similar foodservice projects, with knowledge ofhealth code requirements and restaurant infrastructure (HVAC and exhaustsystems, kitchen equipment, etc).Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and AdobeCreative Suite proficient.Rendering, 3D modeling, and handsketching skills a plus.Able to manage several projects andconsultants simultaneously, and work with multiple project stakeholders acrossthe organization.Strong communication and timemanagement skills.Knowledge ofretail/restaurant/hospitality design industry trends and best practices.Positive attitude with team-drivenmentality and detail oriented approach.Ability to travel up to 30% throughoutCAVA and Zoe’s markets.
