Some of what you'll be doing:

As an Aviation Communications & Marketing Program Manager, you will increase public awareness of opportunities at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), of its benefits to the community, and of the airport's priorities. You will create opportunities that align leadership priorities and program activities to the overall Port communications plan. You will partner with marketing and media to create moments, drive perceptions, and proactively assert a narrative.

You will develop and maintain key messages and desired perceptions based on research and leadership priorities.

You will develop long-term vision for how the airport should be perceived among key stakeholder groups and direct development of communications activities in short and long-term timelines that will achieve desired perceptions.

You will develop and manage a yearly marketing and communications plan and share regular updates with Public Affairs and Port leaders.

You will collaborate with media and marketing specialists to create integrated communications plans to bring communications moments to life through events, news pitches, and owned stories.

You will write persuasive stories, scripts, blogs, talking points and presentations to convey key messages and desired perceptions.

You will serve as messaging ambassador to partners in other departments.

You will work with subject matter experts in External Relations and other aviation departments to develop events and moments that improve the customer experience, promote Port values, establish Port leadership on key issues, highlight community relations, and further reinforce that a well-run airport benefits the community.

You will be primary back up to Senior Media Officer, rotate on weekend pager duty and evening pager duty.

You will provide on the record statements to media, coordinate interviews with key subject matter experts, and assist in incident response during major incidents, with working media in an on the record spokesperson capacity.

Who you are:

Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in a public relations or corporate communications role working directly with senior level clients, all levels of internal staff, and other agencies on high-level communications plans.

Desired – You possess a Bachelor's degree in communications, creative writing, public relations, or marketing.

Collaborator – You are experienced in keeping leadership informed and peers engaged, ability to manage conflicting perspectives and priorities to a singular outcome. You have a strong sense of judgement regarding audiences, messages, information and working with layers of management and approvals.

Relationship Builder – You can work with diverse staff, at various levels of the organization, while providing excellent communication and customer service.

Marketing Event Planner – You are experienced in planning and managing media and/or marketing events.

What else you need to know:

Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.

Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.

Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
