What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for an experienced

Test System Designer

to join our Testing team in Canton, MI, championing the design, assembly, and support of test systems for the wide portfolio of products that Yazaki produces, including intelligent junction boxes, DC/DC converters, AC/DC converters, and battery busbar modules for both high and low voltage electrical systems.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization.

What you will be doing:

Partnering with Test System Engineers on the design of test system wiring, PCBAs, load boxes, system interconnections, mechanical components, pneumatic controls etc.Leading the building, verification, and documentation of test system wiring, PCBAs, load boxes, system interconnections, mechanical components, pneumatic controls etc.Assembling test system hardware.Working independently, demonstrating the ability to resolve most test system hardware related issues, and optimize the test system design and assembly process.Coaching and mentoring less experienced technicians and designersProviding on-going support for test systemsMaintaining the lab in a tidy and efficient state. Ordering lab supplies and components as required.What you will bring to the table:

Relevant associate degree (Engineering or Physics preferred)Minimum of 4 years' experience (all working on hardware as complex as test systems)Experience designing, developing, reading, and following wiring diagrams and schematics. The ability to design PCBAs, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, system wiring and load boxes and document them in programs like OrCAD, DxDesigner, Xpedition, or VisioExperience assembling and soldering through-hole and surface mount PCBAs. Familiarity with tools and methods associated with PCB assembly such as: soldering iron, mini-wave, hot-air reflow, solder paste application, working from BOMs etc. Testing, troubleshooting, and verifying such assemblies.Experience assembling, wiring, and soldering: automotive components, load boxes, and harnesses or systems of a similar complexity. Testing, troubleshooting, and verifying such assemblies.Knowledge of industry standard connectors, components, and crimping/soldering terminals.Experience working with 19-inch rack mount components, panel layout, box layout, and associated sheet metal work. Filing, drilling, degreasing, etc. of enclosures and panels.Knowledge of PCs, PCIe cards, troubleshooting, and networking.Experience with standard laboratory test instruments, such as: Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Power Supplies and DMMsKnowledge of electronics.Being a self-starter with the ability to check your own work and ensure it is done correctly, and to manage your own schedule so task are completed in a timely fashion.Ability to rack test systems using heavy (~ 50lbs) components and move around racks in narrow spacesWillingness to work in a group atmosphere adhering to established processesAbility to travel occasionally, as requiredAbility to be on call occasionally, as requiredWhat we can provide you:
