The Sr. Art Director, Packaging is responsible for graphical and visual packaging design and execution for Coty's consumer color cosmetic brands. This role will translate our brand equity and principles of design, express creativity through storytelling and create inspiring primary and secondary packaging designs that are thoughtful and embody surprising details. Reporting into the Global VP of Packaging Design R&D this role works closely as a creative design co creation partner to the global brand marketing, product and packaging R&D teams.

In addition to packaging design, the Sr. Art Director, Packaging will help define, evolve and articulate the brand's packaging design standards and drive design consistency across all markets and on-time and on-budget project delivery. The Sr. Art Director, Packaging is a self-starter with a keen understanding of the beauty industry from a DEI consumer experience, and via marketing and merchandising lens.

The ideal candidate is highly creative, loves to design with sustainability in mind and can oversee a project from concept to shelf. He/she/they have experience with color cosmetic brands, thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment and is highly collaborative. The candidate is passionate, proactive, highly organized, and an effective communicator with outstanding taste level and the ability to recognize, forecast, and translate industry trend direction.

THE ROLE

In this role you will be responsible for:be fiercely focused on delivering elevated, premium packaging designs that deliver joy and hope to all consumerscollaborate on, and execute, creative briefs into 3D design and packaging ideas that are clear, compelling, visually exciting, and highly covetable from a consumer standpointconceptualize, illustrate, and communicate new product concepts through ideation sketching, 3D concepts visualizations, photorealistic renderings, and prototypes both internally and externallywork towards various timelines in a fast-paced environment, while delivering designs that are accurate and consistentpartner closely with Packaging & Product Development teams on establishing feasibility and meeting manufacturability, performance, quality and cost objectives; support in the development of technical drawings and package specificationsdrive the design branding by developing and managing consistent product and packaging across core products, NPD, repackaging, and promotionsattend trade shows, meet with packaging suppliers and research current trends, materials and innovation to create packaging that is unique, luxurious and compellingeffectively present and communicate creative design vision to the brand and cross-functional teamsliaises with the Production Artist to ensure artwork is delivered accurately and on-timeestablish standardization of package design workflow and create unified primary and secondary package design guidelinesdesign all phases of primary, secondary, and promotional packaging from concepting, comps to laying out artwork in die linemanage external comp houses, photographers and retoucherscreate thorough design turnovers (DTO's) of package designs to cross-functional teamsactively participate in meetings or when necessary for decision-making responsibilitiesperform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS

We'd love to see candidates who have:

10+ years' experience in graphic design and packaging; BA in Design preferredpassion for the beauty industry; experience in cosmetics packaging design and developmentA refined taste level with expert 3D and 2D design and visualization skillsability to take direction from the Founder & President, Creative Director and VP of Packaging and provide multiple solutionsdriven and creative individual with experience developing innovative physical primary and secondary package designs in a fast-paced environmentA self-starter who is motivated to set and achieve goals and takes initiative within the workplacedemonstrate proficiency in understanding the entire packaging development lifecycleunderstanding of various package materials (sustainable/non-sustainable), properties, and decoration techniquesproven track record with color cosmetic packaging design where products have gone to marketexperience in creating presentations boards from materials to conceptsdemonstrated ability to meet tight timelines, manage multiple projects and work productively with cross-functional teamsvery strong organizational skills and well organized with strong problem-solving skillsstrong verbal and written communicationadvanced/expert Apple computer skills in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with a specialty within Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; 3D design software, including CAD a plusstrong print-production knowledge (die lines, bleed, color modes, live area, etc)thrives in a team environment, contribute ideas, and interact with cross-functional partnersmanages well in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
