About the Team

Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI's products and platform amongst our core audiences. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Developer Relations, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.

About the Role

The OpenAI API enables organizations of all sizes-from startups to enterprises-to power their products and experiences with AI. As a member of the API product marketing team, you will be responsible for developing launch strategies that drive adoption of OpenAI's APIs, developer tools, and models among developers and businesses. This includes making sure we are building and launching the right products for our customers, deeply understanding our customers and the competitive landscape, thinking strategically about how we bring new products to market, leading cross-functional teams in launch planning, and tracking post-launch metrics and customer feedback. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the way we position and launch AI technology to the world.

In this role, you will:Build launch strategies for our APIs, developer tools and models, including bringing a clear perspective on product-market fit, developing messaging and competitive positioning, being strategic about launch moments and announcement content, leading cross-functional teams in launch planning, and tracking post-launch metrics and customer feedback.Deeply understand our customers by talking to developers and business decision makers regularly, conducting market research, listening to Gong calls, and having regular touchpoints with our Sales, Solutions Engineering, Developer Experience, and Data Science teams.Develop an informed opinion on what we should build and launch for developers and businesses, bringing a perspective to Product and Engineering teams to inform the product roadmap.Create compelling customer-facing content such as blogs, emails, tweets and landing pages alongside the Developer Experience, PR and Design teams.Create GTM enablement materials and lead product trainings for Sales and Solutions Engineering teams, acting as a liaison between Sales and Product teams.Understand the objectives of the API business and think strategically about how product marketing can drive growth, across both top-of-funnel awareness and long-term retention.You might thrive in this role if you have/can do the following:

5+ years of experience in product marketing, 8+ years of work experience overallProven experience in marketing highly technical products (preferably APIs) to business decision makers and developersCollaborate with cross-functional teams regularly, including Product, Sales, Solutions Engineers, Developer Experience, PR, and Design/WebExceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a broader audienceExcellent storytelling skills, with the ability to take a horizontal, technical product and translate it into compelling sales assets, content, customer stories, videos, etc.Develop effective field enablement assets, including demos, one-pagers, and slides, and runs training sessions for hundreds of peopleStrong analytical and research skills to prioritize customer segments, personas, and use cases, and package up insights for product roadmappingOutstanding project management capabilities, and the skill to coordinate various work streams and partnersThrive in a fast-moving, dynamic, hyper-growth environment and are able to operate fluidly between the 30,000-foot strategy level and the micro-detail to get things rightA deep curiosity and forward-thinking approach-rooted in data, but driven by intuition honed from experiencePassionate about the transformative potential of AI, and considerate of its societal implications
