Job Summary

Instructional Designer 3 supports day to day operations for Learning Systems ( primarily Cornerstone products) for Learning & Organization development. Uses skills to deploy, test, and monitor, eLearning & instructor-led/virtual activitie, online learning communities, and material related to but not limited to UCSF Leadership Institute and Center for Nursing Excellance and Innovation (CNEI).Uses skills of instructional design and multimedia development as an experienced professional to help shape curricular content into coherent instructional modules that employ multimedia and a variety of interactive, web-based tools aimed at encouraging the engagement of learners in knowledge acquisition. Demonstrates high degree of collaboration and diplomacy as well as problem analysis and creative solutions. Solves complex content or delivery related issues in collaboration with technical teams. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Normally receives little direction for ongoing course development assignments.

Department Description

The purpose of the Learning and Organization Development department is to Lead Talent Development Strategies which inspire professional excellence, and attract, develop, and retain outstanding and diverse people, who together Advance health worldwide. The department offers comprehensive professional development experiences for supervisory and non-supervisory team members to facilitate talent management. It also creates custom e-learning solutions, blended learning and other technology-enabled solutions tailored for performance improvement. Through organization development consulting, the department enables UCSF leaders to increase their departments' effectiveness through needs assessments, consulting, and facilitation in many areas, such as:* Engagement* Strategic planning* Team/department performance* Change management* Executive coaching and* Leader transitions into new roles; and through career development initiatives that include enhancing career paths, the department furthers workforce development and supports UCSF's role as an Anchor Institution.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and 2 or more years of directly related work experience; and / or equivalent experience / trainingMinimum three (3) years of experience in a learning management systemThorough knowledge of learning management systems, preferably Cornerstone OnDemandThorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areasThorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skillsStrong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skillsThorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learningThorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course developmentThorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etcThorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and educational methodologies.Thorough knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.)Advanced level skills in application of planning, resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organizationKnowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training
