At HBD, the Designer is expected to display professionalism in creatively advising clients making selections for their home during the design phase. They are to solve, anticipate, and prevent problems while working with a sense of urgency. Reading and understanding plans, elevations, and specifications is vital. The ability to have a flexible schedule to attend training sessions and company-wide meetings. Proactive communication with other team members and management related to design trends, client feedback, as well as product and subcontractor issues. Needs to demonstrate the ability to follow new home selection processes while managing day to day tasks to effectively complete the job on time and in budget. Embracing the HBD culture, dynamic team environment, and most importantly, processes, programs, communities, and the HBD standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain the showroom: Keep showroom clean, organized, supplies stocked, dispose of, and install new samples as programs change.Manage specifications for projects in assigned communities.Update specifications as necessary throughout the project schedule.Communicate with clients, vendors, suppliers, and the project team as necessary to convey useful information.Submit necessary design materials for community ARB/DRC.Communicate necessary changes to ARB/DRC, client, and project team.Generate, price, manage, and execute client change order requests.Perform periodic site visits for presold homes to ensure accurate implementation of design selections.Follow the Design Phase process for all presold homes.Be aware and knowledgeable of all showroom products.Ability to ensure quality client experience.Demonstrate knowledge in various components of HBD’s high-performance building standards.Develop detailed interior paint maps of all homes to provide to painterMaintain and update neighborhood paint maps of exterior colorsSKILLS NEEDED:

Microsoft Office Suite – Proficient in ExcelBasic estimatingPossess a comprehensive general knowledge of new home design, construction, and productions (cabinets, tile, lighting, etc.)Multitasking capabilitiesMaintain composure while handling frequent job disruptionsProactively complete tasks and objectives; commit to long hours if neededImprove efficiency with strong organization skillsMaintain a composed problem-solving approach when faced with unrealistic expectations, pressing time demands, frustrations, or interpersonal conflictConfidently interact with a wide variety of personality typesSeparate your taste/style/preferences from a client’s and help them successfully design a home to suit their person aestheticExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOutstanding customer skills and dialogREQUIREMENTS:

B.S. in Interior Design from an Accredited College/University3-5 years’ experience in interior designOr combination of relevant education/experience
