Fennel's primary product is realtime feature engineering platform which helps data scientists and ML engineers ship ML systems to production. Under the hood, this product is a new and powerful streaming compute engine - and our ambition is for all data pipelines in the future to be built using Fennel.Despite being so young, Fennel is already making revenue and growing rapidly.About the RoleWe are looking for a marketing lead to join our small but mighty team of 12 people and bootstrap our marketing function. This is a full stack marketing role and will encompass everything from helping with positioning/messaging, bootstrapping nurture campaigns, building out content & community pillars, and lot more including paid acquisition, partnerships, influencer marketing - whatever the person in this role discovers to be useful to telling Fennel's story to developers throughout the world.Cracking GTM is the #1 business problem for us and we believe that marketing could become a powerful lever for customer acquisition. As such, this is an important high impact role — you will work directly with the company CEO on a daily basis and have a large say in the overall company strategy. Fennel is also going open source soon and that further enlarges the opportunity to tell a compelling story to connect our product with the developer community and future customers. And you’ll be at the center of it.In the beginning, this will primarily be an individual contributor role but over time, could evolve into a leadership role such that the rest of the marketing function is built around the person in this role.Note: we are open to fully remote working from anywhere in the US or Canada. However, if you're based out of the Bay Area, you are also welcome to come to our office in Palo Alto / Menlo Park area some days a week.What you'll doDepending on your background and interests, a typical day in this role might include:Partnering with the CEO to define our marketing strategyShould we invest in SEO or webinars?What should be the mix of organic and paid marketing? What are the most important marketing channels?What should be the voice of our content marketing copy?Producing compelling contentMaintain a steady stream of high quality technical content for our blog - some posts to be written by you and some by a team of freelancers managed by youManage all our social media channelsCommunicating with the rest of the worldWrite biweekly product updatesSend out biweekly newsletter to our audienceGrow the audience subscribing to the newsletterExperimenting with paid acquisitionExplore the full matrix of ads - Google, LinkedIn etcExperiment with ad copies, targeting pages, targeting strategies etc.Bringing the product to the marketTake a pass on the copy of our website to clarify the market positioning & messagingCoordinate with other influencer websites to write about our world viewDrive launches for our products, features, and partnerships by creating press material and other such collateral.Building up a vibrant community of ML developersPlan, execute, and oversee global developer eventsCreate opportunities for us to share our story in large conferences and eventsOrganize webinars / podcastsBeing the product SME for revenue teamPlan, coordinate and deliver sales enablement, support sales with decks, collateral and content as necessaryWhat we're seekingMust Have4+ years of working experience in relevant full-time content marketing or product marketing rolesPrior background in marketing to developersPast experience of working at very early stage startups (Seed to series B)Attitude to roll up the sleeves, get hands dirty, and get things done quickly and reliably.Ability to be independent and self-directed in a fast paced but chaotic low structure environment like an early stage startupNice to HavePrior experience of doing B2B marketing for MLOps or Data engineering productsExperience with many other aspects of marketing - ads, events, partnerships, influencer marketing etc.
