Position SummaryFVRLibraries is seeking a full-time Communications & Marketing Director. We are on the lookout for a highly skilled and diplomatic Communications and Marketing Director to elevate our brand, lead impactful campaigns, and enhance user experience through strategic communication efforts.

In this role, you will drive the development and execution of strategic marketing and communication plans across the district. Your expertise in leadership and diplomacy will be crucial in guiding our team, refining our branding and style, and implementing campaigns that resonate with our audience. You will act as the district’s media spokesperson, manage crisis communications, and handle Public Records Requests, while contributing to high-level strategic decisions and mentoring staff.

Essential Functions include:Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that align with district goals. Provide visionary leadership to enhance our brand’s visibility and effectiveness.Campaign Management: Design, execute, and oversee high-impact campaigns that promote library services and initiatives. Your campaign experience should be directly relevant or transferable to similar public service contexts.Brand and Style Oversight: Lead efforts to improve branding and style, ensuring consistency and excellence in all communications. Enhance user experience through strategic updates and innovations.Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and trend analysis to gauge the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. Identify key audience segments and optimize marketing channels.Content Creation: Oversee the creation, editing, and coordination of key communications materials, including annual reports, newsletters, website content, and social media. Ensure high-quality, engaging content that reflects our brand.Media Relations: Maintain and cultivate media relationships, craft compelling news releases, and develop strategic media plans to amplify our messaging.Public Records Management: Serve as the Public Records Officer, managing requests and ensuring timely, accurate responses.Event Coordination: Plan and implement special events and initiatives that further our mission and engage the community.Administrative Contribution: Actively participate in Administrative Team and Board meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes.Team Management: Lead and mentor the communications, graphics, and marketing teams, implementing systems and procedures for optimal performance.Budget Oversight: Manage the division’s budget, making strategic decisions and planning for future expenditures. Participate in district-wide budget discussions.Project Management: Collaborate on district-wide and community projects, representing the library’s interests and driving successful outcomes.Please see the attached job description for more information.

Education & Experience

To be considered, applicants must have the following:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in business administration, public administration, communications, marketing or a related field.Five years of increasingly responsible leadership experience that includes at least three years of senior level public affairs, public information or communications consulting experience.At least two years supervisory experience.Desired education:

Master’s degree in related field of study or equivalent.Schedule

This position is expected to work Monday through Friday out of our Operations Center in Vancouver, WA. Occasional travel will be required to visit branches and communities throughout our district. Occasional night/weekend hours are required for activities such as monthly board meetings, library conferences and the annual board retreat.

Compensation & Benefits

Employees with experience matching the minimum education and experience requirements listed above can expect to start at $98,420 annually. The pay grade for this position spans from $98,420 to $147,630. Employees progress through the pay grade by demonstrating successful completion of growth and development activities at set milestones over the course of 20 years.

We have an excellent benefit package. FVRLibraries covers 90-95% of full-time employees’ health insurance premium cost and 90-100% of dental insurance premium costs. In addition, we provide employees with Life Insurance, AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance at no cost to the employee. Employees have the ability to enroll in additional, voluntary life insurance, income protection plans, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts.

Our employees enjoy 12 paid holidays throughout the year. Full time employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month. The initial vacation leave accrual is 11 hours per month; this increases over time based on years of employment. We also offer other types of paid time off for situations such as jury duty, bereavement leave, inclement weather and more.
