The Communications Manager for University Advancement creates, develops, and executes communications tasks and projects that support alumni, parent, and fundraising and engagement programs, activities, and initiatives. As a fully integrated member of LMU's Marketing and Communications team, this position works within Advancement Communications to ensure that outcomes achieve objectives with key target audiences and constituent groups while promoting goodwill, elevating exposure and visibility, advancing the university's mission and goals, and aligning with the university's brand platform.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Communications Production, Planning, and Project Management

Create, edit, research, and produce content/copy for traditional and digital communications products that support University Advancement, including, but not limited to, newsletters, solicitations, awareness/engagement campaigns, video scripts, event promotions, stewardship and volunteer communications, web pages, and social media.Develop and manage communications plans that utilize multi-channel approaches, customized to the identified objectives and target audiences. Devise strategies that seek to strengthen alumni and parent engagement, increase annual support, and support overall fundraising efforts.Manage and implement concurrent, interdependent short-, medium-, and long-term communications projects that support University Advancement. Implement and support an integrated visual identity system, editorial schedule, and production calendar for all assigned communications activities. Ensure projects are completed by identified deadlines and on budget.Quality Assurance, Collaboration, and Research

Assure successful outcomes by adopting best-practice project management methodologies, quality assurance metrics, and risk mitigation plans. Ensure the integrity, high-quality, and consistency of the university's image, tone, style, narrative, visual identity, and brand. Review and manage UA content across traditional and digital channels and edit/track for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness. Align communications tactics, efforts, and goals with MarComm's overall communications and strategic direction.Collaborate with Special Events to develop opportunities for donors and other constituents to connect with each other and the university through signature events and communications.Research target audience trends, gather information about competitors' activities, and maintain a readily accessible library of relevant articles, industry intelligence, rankings, facts, and figures. Stay abreast of emerging trends, develop professional contacts with colleagues, attend professional development engagements, and deliver presentations that inform, educate, and inspire.Maintenance and Other

Develop and execute a content maintenance plan to ensure timely updates of news, event, and general content on UA digital channels (web/social), on electronic invitations, and other communications.Perform other duties as assigned by MarComm leadership.Loyola Marymount University Expectations

The incumbent must have the ability to initiate ideas, develop concepts, and review the effectiveness of processes to ensure professional standards and high quality. The incumbent has the ability to assess the needs of internal clients and suggest appropriate measures to meet those needs. The incumbent is able to work effectively and independently with internal and external constituencies. The incumbent has the ability to operate in an environment in which skilled relationship management and consensus-building are required to deliver successful outcomes.

Requisite Qualifications

Typically, a bachelor's degree. Background in communications, marketing, or related field preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.Minimum 4 years of communications experience in a non-profit or higher education organization in progressively responsible positions and experience developing and deploying content in traditional and digital communications channelsDemonstrated ability to work effectively and independently with internal and external constituencies and with professionals of varied disciplines to accomplish tasks and projectsDemonstrated experience managing and executing communications across multiple communications channels and media; highly developed skills in communications writing and editingHighly developed organizational, leadership, and communications skillsHighly collaborative style with experience developing and implementing communications strategies successfully; a background that demonstrates relationship-building, consensus-building, flexibility, and managing through influencingEvidence of high energy and creative collaboration style with a track record for leading both strategic and tactical communications effortsSelf-starter, able to work independently and entrepreneurially; experience creating, developing, and implementing new initiatives.Demonstrated computer competency with common production software suites, such as photo editing software, email marketing tools, and analytics-reporting softwareAbility to produce high-quality events and communications products with meticulous attention to detail. Must be metrics-driven and results-oriented with demonstrated analytical skills.Ability to provide quick turnaround and updates for multiple requests while maintaining strong reputation of high-quality workSelf-starter with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional teamMust be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, and service-oriented environment. Experience working successfully within a complex organization. Willing and able to adjust to changing demands and shifting priorities.Willingness to work evenings and weekends periodically to support programming, events, and major project deadlines.

Reasonable Starting Salary of $66,560 annually.

Salary range$66,560.00 - $75,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
