job summary:Leading EPC client is looking for a Substation Designer to join their team in Houston, TX (Must work in the office daily). Candidates will be considered for contract to hire or direct hire for this role.
Requirements for the Substation Designer
3+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer or Substation Designer supporting high voltage substation projects
specific experience designing the physical layout & electrical clearances of the substation
experience with either AutoCAD or MicroStation
knowledgeable with relevant codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA and ANSI
Our client prefers candidates that have an AS Degree in drafting technology or related field but direct substation experience is more importantlocation: Houston, Texasjob type: Permanentsalary: $60,000 - 90,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 5pmeducation: Associates
responsibilities:
Review & check a full range of construction documents for the installation of new, or modifications of existing, high voltage substations
Work with client's design team and subcontractors to verify physical layout design on various high-voltage substation projects
Provide engineering and construction support for projects
Read one line & three line diagrams and then do the design that is required and translate that to a physical layout or controls scheme
Review non-routine drawings with complex features using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes or brief verbal guidance
Review drawing packages for construction contracts and bill of material for procurement specifications
Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager and others as needed#LI-ML1
