As a UX Designer of the PEX team, you will be responsible for the design of the end-to-end employee experience. You’ll craft elegant design solutions across a range of personas and platforms at global scale and collaborate closely with product and engineering partners, as well as multiple partner teams within the broader People Experience Technology (PXT) and Amazon Worldwide Operation orgs. As a senior designer, you’ll own experiences in the Amazon employee mobile app, AtoZ, and the communication, engagement, career, scheduling experience within the app. You will also identify large scope product and long-term design vision to raise the UX bar for this domain.

The People Engagement UX Design Team reinvent the user experience for Amazon employees, with a focus on hourly associates. The experience design directly impacts the lives of millions of Amazon employees by helping them achieve the work life harmony and grow their career. We are looking for a highly-determined, highly-curious, experienced UX Designer to create user experiences for Amazon employees growth and development tooling experiences through a centralized framework. This person will work collaboratively with a team of product managers, engineers, executives, as well as UX leadership, a team of passionate and creative UX designers, researchers and writers across the employee lifecycle. You’ll drive UX design from early-stage concepts all the way through final delivery and launch.

Key job responsibilities

Create elegant and intuitive user experiences by incorporating user insights, business requirements and technical constraints.

Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups with detailed visual design specifications for mobile, and web interfaces throughout the design process.

Create UX solutions for problems with complexity.

Work through ambiguity, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.

Be a champion for user-centered design by partnering with researchers to test your solutions in front of users; and be willing to build lightweight prototype, conduct scrappy and quick user testing on your own if required.

Present design work to UX, Product, and Engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and executive leadership.

Contribute to user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at Amazon Design Community.

A day in the life

The UX Designer will be working with design, product and engineering stakeholders closely on day-to-day basis. While this designer independently owns multiple products/features at the same time, he/she will also collaborate with other UX designers in the same team on connecting individual features to a holistic experience. UX Researcher and UX Content will support you in your work. This designer will share design work regularly with design team peer review, stakeholder review and leadership.

Basic Qualifications

4+ years of design experience

Have an available online portfolio

Experience working with agile development teams (agile/scrum/kanban)

Experience in Adobe Creative Suit applications, with high proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat using macOS

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with e-commerce, search, social, and other major application types and their UX patterns

Experience creating services and applications with multiple user touch points on different platforms and devices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $108,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
