Walmart Connect is key to Walmart’s growth strategy. Walmart has built a ~$3 billion dollar closed loop, in-house advertising business that is a robust, true omnichannel, media services division with WMC. We partner closely with brands on strategies and solutions that harness Walmart’s unparalleled omnichannel influence. We deliver relevant retail ads and experiences that connect our customers with the brands and products they love. And we use Walmart’s proprietary online and in-store data, encompassing 95% of American households, to measure campaign-correlated sales on our site and in our stores.About the role:We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist, to drive advertiser media strategy and performance through advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques. In this fast-growing team, the Senior Data Scientist will build predictive models, derive media insights, define statistically sound solutions including but not limited to marketing mix models, multi touch attribution, uplift targeting, automated optimization strategies, and advertiser-facing recommendations. They will also be responsible for consulting cross functional teams and advertisers by breaking down complex measurement solutions into actionable media insights. The Senior Data Scientist will manage various measurement projects while mentoring junior data scientists on the team. This role combines science leadership, client-facing communication, organizational ability, technical strength, product focus and business understanding.Location: San Bruno, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Hoboken, NJHybrid in office environmentResponsibilitiesBuild and enhance media mix models to connect the impact of marketing tactics and business short-term and long-term outcomes.Run optimization and simulation scenarios to help provide the marketing investment and allocation recommendations to stakeholders.Perform hands-on modeling and complex analyses using SQL & Python.Explain complex modeling approaches in simple terms and develop compelling narratives that connect modeling results with business problems.Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline data science solutions.Manage various projects across different measurement solutionsProvide strategic & technical inputs in the development of multiple measurement productsMentor junior data scientists on the team on various technical skills.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in statistics, data science, operations research, economics, mathematics, or related field.5+ years of experience in media mix modeling, predictive modeling, advanced measurement, applicable marketing analytics.Proficient coding skills (Python/SQL), experience and knowledge with database structures and Microsoft Excel.Sound knowledge of complex machine learning algorithms such as regressions, classification, clustering, optimization algorithms, neural nets, decision treesStrong project management skills.Able to communicate technical material to a range of audiences that provides insight into marketing performance.Passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment.A collaborative mindset, innovative with a sense of curiosity.Preferred QualificationsPhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or related field.Experienced in building multiple market mix and multi-touch attribution models.Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.Experience with advertising, measurement, and/or digital marketing analytics.Experience with advertising technology platforms eCommerce, Ad servers, DSPs, DMPs, etc.Strategic thinker and great problem solver with an ability to find pragmatic solutions to complex day to day challenges faced by data scientistsAt Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based incentive awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet. The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00-$216,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
