POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Animation at The New York Film Academy Los Angeles Campus
seeks 5 talented and ambitious instructors who specializes in either Houdini/Python, Visual Effects, Animation, Stop-Motion and/or Compositing.
Animation with the ability to execute and instruct on the entire animation pipeline. The individual in this role will be working in a diverse environment with students from all around the world.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.Deliver instruction in accordance with the learning objectives set for the course, including practical skills, methods, theories and techniquesProvide one-on-one consultations with students, if and when necessaryManage course syllabus materials & lesson plans, and develop as neededFacilitate peer assessment and encourage discussion & constructive criticism in classAssess student work, including but not limited to, assigning projects, papers and exercisesSubmit attendance & grades promptly to the Registrar's Office, and inform the appropriate administrative staff if students are not meeting academic standards and need academic support; if students are suspected of committing plagiarism; if incidents occur in class which cause an unsafe learning environment for students & facultyAdhere to institution-wide policies & procedures and follow the correct protocol with respect to disciplining studentsAttend & participate in faculty meetings and/or departmental curricular meetings, as requested by Department ChairIf requested, serve as advisors or on Thesis Committees and evaluate undergraduate or graduate student Thesis workPrep and organize gear for class; can include, but is not limited to film and digital cameras, lights and various stands if appropriate to courses taughtMaking safety the first priority for any activity on setParticipate in day long production workshops on the backlot as a supervising instructor (no lifting) if needed (if appropriate to courses taught)Guide students through hands on classesOther duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
Broad & in-depth knowledge of the subject area or discipline where they teachSubstantial professional experience in the discipline of AnimationExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment.Ethical/Honest confidentiality, honesty, transparence, and open communicationExcellent organizational skillsCollaborative willing to work with fellow instructors on any required departmental work, such as curricular development and planningEXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Master (equivalent professional experience) in Houdini/Python, Visual Effects, Animation Stop-Motion or Compositing Animation or related field2-3 years of Houdini/Python, Visual Effects, Animation Stop-Motion or Compositing experience for television or feature filmExperience in armature creation- wire and ball-joint, modeling and skinningProgram skills: Dragon, After-Effects, Premiere, PhotoshopCamera & Lighting Skills needed to light and produce Stop-Motion
Broad & in-depth knowledge of the subject area or discipline where they teachSubstantial professional experience in their respective departmentExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsEthical/Honest - evidence of the practice of a high level confidentialityExcellent organizational skills
