About the Position
Perform routine calculations and apply basic electrical knowledge to design power systems including voltage drop calculations, power supply sizing, wire sizing, circuit protection sizing, conduit sizing and cable tray sizing. Applying NEC knowledge particularly in the following areas of grounding, circuit protection, cable sizing and wiring methods Ability to read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams and use that information as part of the work process to develop various design packages (i.e. control schematics, installation details and physicals) Produce design drawings for control panels for panel fabricators, including panel layouts, schematics, and bills of materials. Produce grounding layouts, underground conduit design, area lighting design, motor schematics, low voltage instrument diagrams, single line diagrams (under direction of an Electrical Engineer), physical plan and detail diagrams, loop diagrams, electrical building layouts, taking into account distance requirements per the NEC, cable tray modeling and layout, terminal box tabulations, conduit schedules and interconnection diagrams. Produce and assemble "Issued for Construction" packages to include new or revised design drawings and a detailed project scope outlining the directions and procedures required for completing the construction phase of a project. Required Skills/ Abilities
Well versed in AutoCAD In Tools experience preferred. Be in good standing with DISA and valid TWIC is preferred. Strong working knowledge of electrical and instrument design, strong working knowledge of P&ID's, instrumentation design details, control loop preparation, location plans, control panel layout. Ability to communicate and understand work issued by various disciplines and others involved in a project design. Eligible to work for any U.S. employer. Education and Experience
2 year Associates degree in related field is preferred. 5 to 10 years of experience working in a refinery or chemical plant and/or with a consulting firm representing similar industries. Field experience in Electrical Construction or Maintenance is a plus. Experience with electrical classification requirements for installations in hazardous area classifications is a requirement. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Climbing (stairs/ladders) and field visits are required. Exposure to outdoors Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other equipment as required. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and carry 20-30 lbs of equipment.
