In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage major projects and initiatives and produce, publish, and share work that informs and catalyzes the alternative protein field around the world. Working closely with the Senior Vice President of Communications and overseeing the team’s administrative functions, you will help ensure the effective operation and management of GFI’s Communications (Comms) department. The

Communications Project Manager

will be responsible for:Overseeing the Comms team’s project management efforts and providing guidance to Comms Coordinators; ensuring all types of projects have achievable timelines, clear assignment of responsibilities, and are generally well-coordinated and efficiently executed.Serving as lead project manager for the organization’s signature “State of” series of reports and supporting materials, working with contributors across multiple teams to develop, produce, publish, and disseminate on an annual basis.Partnering with Comms and Executive (Exec) team leaders on annual planning and longer-term strategic planning with a focus on external facing work, leading schedule development of the communications elements of GFI’s signature and landmark projects, donor-driven campaigns, and major events.Leading the development, documentation, improvement, and training of systems, processes, and workflows that strengthen cross-organizational collaboration around external facing products, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.Organizing the Comms team’s cycle-based Objectives and Key Results (OKR) planning process and overseeing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting toward achieving OKRs.Establishing project goals, objectives, and deliverables for signature and landmark projects, donor campaigns, and major events.Monitoring resourcing across all Comms work streams through close work with Comms Coordinators, alerting Comms Leadership to risks and opportunities related to the allocation of team resources.Scheduling/facilitating debriefs for all major campaigns and events, gathering actionable feedback, and reporting on project success to relevant stakeholders.Ensuring smooth workflows between Creative and Editorial & Engagement (E&E) zones, working closely with Directors to achieve and sustain cohesion across teams and individual contributors.Facilitating initial onboarding and ongoing training for new and existing Comms team members for team-wide workflows and processes.Keeping the Comms shared drive organized and easy to navigate, developing new storage systems or processes as needed to support healthy and efficient cross-team collaboration.Maintaining alignment with Legal on licensing and asset storage method best practices.Triaging incoming requests to Comms as tier-two support to Comms Coordinators, escalating strategic decisions to Comms Leadership, and otherwise acting independently to make decisions related to the allocation of team resources to best achieve strategic objectives.Supporting the annual budgeting process as needed and tracking communications expenses to budget throughout the year.Building strong internal relationships to ensure consistent, accurate information exchange between Communications and other departments, including international affiliates.Serving as Communications team lead for key technologies, systems, and platforms including Salesforce, Asana, and Google tools.Performing other duties as assigned.Who We’re Looking For

An ideal candidate for the

position will have experience that reflects the following:Experience: Minimum five years of project management experience in a communications setting, preferably at a nonprofit organization. A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.Leadership: Ability to mentor and inspire team members, guide workflows, and manage competing priorities.Skills: Excellent project management, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills. Highly detail-oriented. Demonstrated strong judgment.Software fluency: Salesforce, Asana, and Google Workspace experience preferred.Adaptability: Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment and pivot to meet opportunities while advancing strategic priorities.
