The Wayfinding Design Manager reports to the Wayfinding Sr. Project Manager and is responsible for the design delivery of all Wayfinding designs performed by various designers under different contracts. The candidate must have wayfinding design experience within large campus environments (aviation, transportation, higher education campuses, etc.). The individual shall be driven to "think outside the box" and be able to lead and collaborate with large groups to find the right solution.Project and Position Description:

The Wayfinding Design Manager establishes and monitors procedures for engineering review activities to ensure they are done according to best practices and the design standards identified in the Contracts. The Wayfinding Design Manager shall oversee design support management, scope of work management (contracts, cost and schedule), design review and approval, permitting, agency coordination support, and building information modelling (BIM) coordination. The Wayfinding Design Manager supports Wayfinding project managers in providing oversight of the design-builder's designs including architectural, structural, mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP), civil, utilities, and IT disciplines per LAWA standards. The Wayfinding Design Manager oversees the various design activities of the Wayfinding Enhancement Program, which includes stakeholder communications and presentations to senior leadership of the airport and airlines.The Wayfinding Enhancement Program covers all areas from landside (parking and roads) to terminal/concourse/secured side (all passenger facing) to airfield (gating identification) and all supporting IT interfaces.Key Job Duties:Overseeing the review and approval of technical documents (DRT process)Lending expertise to manage comment resolutionFacilitating meetings and be the technical liaison between the Developers/Design-Builders and TDIP Subject Matter Expert teamsWorking with the Wayfinding Sr. Project Manager in defining, reviewing and/or approving design requirements, responsibilities and program consistencyProviding guidance to the Wayfinding Sr. Project Manager should design requirements contained in the project documents not be clearly definedProviding technical review of changes to scope of work for each projectEstablishing submittal approval procedures and ensure uniformity of review approachAuditing project team comments and designer responsesMonitoring compliance with architectural and engineering guidelines for the Wayfinding Enhancement Program ensuring consistency and quality in designMonitoring permitting information and the permitting process required by the design teamSupporting Wayfinding project managers to ensure design reviews are completed on time and within budgetDeveloping and maintaining the Wayfinding Enhancement Program scope tracker to verify that all scope elements are accounted for and have been or will be assigned to a projectProviding guidance related to the functional requirements contained in the technical specifications or other project documents supplied by LAWAMonitoring BIM productions of all designers and contractors according to LAWA BIM Standards, the BIM Execution Plan, and needs of the Wayfinding Enhancement Program.Acting as technical liaison for the design review processes and comment resolution in coordination with the project manager and the Design Review Team (DRT)Providing technical support and coordination between the Wayfinding Enhancement Program team and other TDIP project teams for program consistency across all disciplinesProviding technical support for adjacent LAWA projects as required to ensure accurate interfaceProviding technical coordination for project consistency across all disciplinesPreparing and reviewing briefings, meeting agendas, and supporting materials for various meetings including Board presentations, Steering Committee meeting, Stakeholder outreach, and other TDIP meetingsHardware/Software Knowledge:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and BluebeamAbility to work in CAD or REVIT a plusProfessional Experience Level/Other Qualifications:20 years or more experience in managing the design of large, complex building projects, utilities and infrastructure improvements, preferably on airport projectsDesign management of complex aviation improvements experience requiredExperience managing a team of design professionalsExperience with projects more than $50 million in value.Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/BuildProven ability to perform in a management capacityExcellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulationsMust have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilitiesMust be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgroundsMust be detail oriented and highly organizedEducation/Training:Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, Engineering, and/or related field requiredProfessionally licensed Architect and/or Engineer strongly preferredElement-Specific Requirements/Notes:May assume other duties as required/neededMay be required to work past regular work shiftMay be required to work various shifts as neededPlease note, if you move forward in the submission process, you will be asked to provide the following:Most updated resumeCertifications or Licenses obtained3-4 Professional ReferencesProject List with values, dates, and company of any projects workedCompany Website:
