Each day, hundreds of thousands of advertisers use Amazon Advertising to deliver highly relevant ads to hundreds of millions of users. The Advertising Audiences teams own critical systems within the Ad Tech Stack, enabling nuanced targeting of different user segments. Our services ingest billions of behavioral signals every day, evaluate them in real-time, and vend audiences for every ad request received within a fraction of a second. Speed, scale, and accuracy are critical to our success.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to build large scale, high availability software systems, somebody who thrives on solving complex problems and relishes the challenge of operating complex and mission critical systems under extreme loads. You will work in a highly collaborative environment with very smart and talented engineers.

Key job responsibilities

Think big, bringing fresh ideas and interactions optimizes for a healthier publisher ecosystem.

You take a long-term view of architecture, proactively fixing deficiencies and/or proposing larger projects.

You understand the business impact of your systems and show good judgment when making technical trade-offs.

Your code submissions and approach to work are exemplary. You write software that is easy for others to contribute to.

You drive engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and set standards.

When confronted with discordant views, you are able to find the best way forward and influence others to follow that path (build consensus).

You contribute to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and engineering practices.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
