Job Description

AECOM

is seeking an Architectural Design Lead to be based in our New York Metro office.

The Design Lead will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the building designs by the selected Design-Build team. They will manage and instruct the selected Design-Build team, in collaboration with internal and external design and technical consultants, and report project progress to the client.

The Design Lead must utilize their experience experienced in project design, planning, collaboration and coordination with project teams, to deliver results within deadlines and budgets. They will be responsible for oversight of team members, setting deadlines, designating assignments, and monitoring every stage of project progress. This position will track project progress, summarize results, and communicate with construction teams, management, clients, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

Ensuring that all designs and systems are designed in compliance with defined project requirements and goals, including RFI’s and submittals

Support the delivery of the work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost

Coordinate the review of design submittals, design presentations, and design charrettes with internal project stakeholders

Manage the design review process with Authorities Having Jurisdiction

Evaluate the design-builder's progress against scope, quality, schedule, cost, and implement corrective action as needed

Manage the multidisciplinary design elements of the buildings, tracking designer technical performance and making appropriate technical responses

Coordinate Subject Matter Expert advice

Provide technical design guidance and review integration of the designs with other design packages

Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of work required by the Client and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget

Plan for effective project implementation, identify key issues and effectively contribute to the project’s technical planning process

Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and quality controls applied

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

:

BA/BS in Architecture plus six (6) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Professional Architectural License is required

Preferred Qualifications

:

Eight (8) years of relevant, professional Architectural experience

Previous experience working with New York City agencies preferred

Previous experience with high-rise construction is preferred

Previous experience with Design-build preferred

Strong verbal and written skills in a client-facing capacity

Strong leadership, and project management skills, including managing a team and driving project results

A demonstrated commitment to continuous focused learning and skill development, including emerging technologies and tools

Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times

Additional Information

Relocation is not available for this position

Sponsorship is available for this position

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $125,000.00 - $155,000.00.
