Make sure to apply with all the requested information, as laid out in the job overview below.1100 New York Ave NW, Washington, DC 20005Start Date: 06/03/2024Full-TimeSUMMARY: The Director, Event Marketing is part creative mastermind and part project manager, identifying opportunities and crafting unique ways to shape the growth, perception and success of U.S. Travel’s event portfolio through strong promotional strategies. Reporting to the VP, Marketing and working in a highly cross-functional role, this person is responsible for directing the development and execution of thoughtful marketing plans for key events. As a critical member of the Industry Engagement team, this person brings an entrepreneurial spirit, thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and is willing to tackle both big strategic challenges and implement tactical tasks simultaneously.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop key messages, branding and comprehensive marketing campaigns for U.S. Travel events that drive attendance, interest and profitability; implement campaign tactics including emails, print, media partner ads and trades, media buys, and retargeting; analyze performance and adjust strategies to optimize outcomes.Partner with Events & Education team to contribute to planning and execution of existing and future events portfolio, including positioning, programming and content, pricing and promotion, and identifying marketing gaps and opportunities.Lead social, digital and print event marketing content strategy; partner with colleagues to bring campaigns to life.Provide mentorship and counsel to manager, marketing; ensure responsibilities are aligned but distinct, maximizing internal resources and bandwidth.Partner with colleagues to ensure marketing needs are met through U.S. Travel website and other communication vehicles; collaborate to ensure event-specific websites and event apps drive registration and interest, provide a strong attendee and sponsor experience, and align with U.S. Travel’s strategic priorities.Produce event-specific brand manuals and ensure consistent brand representation across all event promotions and materials.Implement data-driven decision-making processes to enhance the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.Collaborate with communications and marketing colleagues to develop and oversee promotional calendars across various channels.Provide creative direction to internal and external designers, photographers, videographers, and other vendors that align with event goals and priorities.Propose and manage marketing budgets for U.S. Travel events, ensuring effective allocation of resources.Research and stay informed on industry trends, emerging themes, best practices, etc. to drive continuous improvement and ensure U.S. Travel remains at the forefront of marketing trends and thought leadership.KEY ATTRIBUTES:

Strategic thinker with the ability to drive results through effective planning and collaboration.Excellent creative writer with expertise in crafting compelling messages for various channels that persuade audiences to act.Resourceful, and a thoughtful steward of organizational resources and ROI.Analytical and data-driven decision-making skills to measure and optimize campaign performance.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail; understanding of AP style a plus.Strong project and budget manager with experience working across different internal teams and with external vendors to bring marketing plans to life within – or below – budget.Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, provide and take direction and prioritize work.Commitment to upholding brand standards and ensuring consistent representation across all materials.Knowledge of appealing graphic design and layout.Receptive to feedback and direction and in search of constant self-improvement.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.A minimum of 7 to 10 years of increasing experience at a trade association managing a revenue-generating events portfolio.Demonstrated success managing colleagues, outside contractors and vendors.Advanced proficiency in Office 365 Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint.Experience in BaseCamp, MagnetMail and Drupal preferred.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Position based in Washington, DC.
