About our direct client;
We are a dynamic team within client's Digital Services overseeing the management of over 7,000 websites. We are seeking a talented WordPress Developer to join our team on a long-term temporary basis with the potential for a permanent position. While our team is primarily remote, we do have in-person meetings 2-3 times per year.
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled WordPress Developer to build and maintain responsive, pixel-perfect websites. You will collaborate with our team to ensure seamless integration and performance while adhering to WCAG AA accessibility standards.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain WordPress websites with a focus on pixel-perfect design implementation and clean, commented code.
Collaborate with the ITS Digital Services team to ensure website responsiveness and performance.
Utilize WordPress Block Editor and Full Site Editing capabilities within our in-house university theme.
Troubleshoot and resolve WordPress theme development issues.
Work closely with stakeholders to meet project requirements.
Ensure website compliance with WCAG AA accessibility standards.
Create training materials for site owners.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience as a WordPress developer with strong HTML and CSS skills.
Proficiency in modern CSS techniques (Flexbox, Grid layouts) for performance optimization.
Advanced debugging and troubleshooting abilities using developer console.
In-depth understanding of WordPress multisite setups, including Full Site Editing.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with WordPress troubleshooting.
Knowledge of WCAG AA accessibility standards.
Expertise with WordPress plugins like Events Calendar and Advanced Custom Fields (minimal plugin usage preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
Post-graduate degree with 2-3 years of experience.
Experience with Adobe XD or Figma.
Note: Candidates must be able to work remotely and be willing to travel for in-person meetings as needed.
