Our Designers work closely with our founders, leaders, and cross-functional Product partners (Product Management, Growth, UXR, Data Science and Engineering) to create a comprehensive roadmap that delights our community.We’re looking for a Head of Design to join our team. This role has an outsized impact on our user experience and the product’s evolution. You will be expected to be a “player-coach”. Responsibilities will range from growing the design team, managing and upskilling product designers, designing by example – spending at least 40% of your time as an individual contributor developing features yourself, proposing ideas to refining interaction details and improving Saturn’s product. Your work will directly impact how millions of young people plan their day and interact with their friends and community!What You’ll Do:Oversee the creative direction of Saturn’s productManage, coach, and provide directed feedback to product designersConceptualize, design, and prototype innovative new features, building alignment with critical cross-functional stakeholders, particularly product management and leadershipDeeply understand user needs and continuously improve existing featuresImprove and direct all parts of the design process like, initial research, brainstorming, product design, visual design, design critiques, sprints, engineering hand-off, polish and deliveryHire designers to scale the team as Saturn scalesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Excellent communication and presentation skillsExperience influencing teams and organizations through strategic thinking and communicationKnowledge and passion for mobile app design, interaction design and design systemsAbility to prototype interactive mobile experiencesSelf-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced environmentYou use a data-informed approach to compliment design thinkingYou have a growth mindset, willingness to consistently push the limits to grow the overall businessYou have a desire to build for the long term, valuing patterns and structures that allow for flexibility in an evolving productQualifications:BA / BS degree or equivalent years of experience5+ years of relevant mobile Product Design experience3+ years of people management experience managing product designers including mid and senior-level designersA strong portfolio with past examples of mobile and consumer tech productsExpert proficiency in FigmaNot required, but highly valuable bonus skills and experience: motion design, illustration, familiarity with revenue ad productsThis role offers a competitive compensation package with an estimated annual salary range of $220,000 to $260,000, exclusive of bonuses, commissions, and equity. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors. We welcome direct conversations with each candidate about compensation in all of our initial calls. We are committed to considering individual factors and welcoming direct conversations about compensation.Saturn embraces both a hybrid and fully remote work environment. Those team members who live locally come together to collaborate in the New York City office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. We also have fully remote employees across several time zones.
