Job Description:

GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic and talented candidate to join our team supporting the Administrative Office of the US Courts (AOUSC) Case Management Systems Office (CMSO) in its modernization effort for one of its mission-critical applications that is used by all U.S. district and appellate courts’ staff members and external stakeholders. CMSO has a mature agile practice using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the AOUSC mission.

We are seeking an expert in user experience strategy and design, information architecture (IA), and front-end prototyping. The UI/UX/HCD Specialist will execute the following responsibilities:

Provide expert guidance on user experience (UX) design direction and strategy.

Create and maintain documentation for all activities, recommendations, and decisions.

Provide subject matter expertise in User Experience Design (e.g., Human Centered Design, User Research, User Personas, User Journeys, Developing, Prototyping, Design Mock-ups, and Evaluating Usability).

Create and deliver a User Experience (UX) Research Plan and Outcomes for each use case, which shall include a research write-up documenting goals, anticipated outcomes, research questions, hypotheses, methodology, recruiting needs, synthesis, and next steps.

Facilitate discovery activities, to include generative research with users and business stakeholders, an assessment of current related features, a content review, an information architecture review, an accessibility review, a business process review; and collection of any available data and analytics and provide in a User Experience Research Checklist.

Conduct formative and contextual user experience research studies to understand users’ goals, needs, journeys, and pain points with respect to the eVoucher and Vendor Manager products.

Partner with other Product Teams to ensure that the new tool or service fits into the existing structure.

Apply insights from user experience research studies to describe product functionality, including epics and user stories, as well as operational, business, functional, technical, data, and integration requirements.

Support design synthesis activities and generate insights and opportunities for improvement. Communicate research findings through a variety of formats (such as insight reports, stories, videos, storyboards, etc.) to maximize relevance and impact.

Perform requirements analysis based on User Experience Research, obtaining stakeholder input from internal users and external users.

Develop User Personas to represent user types that have wants and needs of our applications and products, and who might use our applications and products in a similar way.

Create Customer and User Journey Maps and capture related data.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and other designers.

Conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback on designs and apply results to refine designs.

Create prototypes to help visualize design.

Write and edit plain language content for Development Teams.

Ensure consistency and continuity in CMSO product information architecture, including URL schema, page layout, menus and navigation, user flows, and search engine optimization.

Work with all Product Teams to incorporate new, both authenticated and unauthenticated content and tools, into the Information Architecture Document product lines.

Craft, test, and deploy design deliverables, including wireframes, low- and high-fidelity prototypes, or interactive web forms to facilitate usability testing and agile development of health products.

As appropriate, create and update prototypes to conduct facilitated demos or usability testing to elicit feedback for improvements to the design.

Develop designs that adhere to the U.S. Web Design System.

Provide User Experience (UX) Designs that include, as necessary:

Low and High-Fidelity Mockups for each use case,

UX and Usability test cases,

Prototypes,

Updates to supporting artifacts to reflect sprint backlog,

Customer and User Journey Maps,

User Personas,

UX Testing Results,

Usability and User Research Results,

Design Specifications, including making the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and design frameworks from UX designs available for use by development teams.

Use tools like Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio and Figma provided by the AO.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of nine (9) years of professional experience in a user focused production environment.

Familiarity with UX, information architecture, content strategy, and best practices in health literacy and user centered design.

Deep knowledge of user centered design processes and methodology

Experience with Interaction Design, interaction modeling, and mental modeling

Creating user scenarios, user flow, low fidelity, and high-fidelity wireframes

Advanced skills wireframing and/or prototyping tools and methodologies

Designing web apps and mobile solutions for enterprise platforms

Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision.

Experience on UX strategy, user researcher, user interviews, surveys, and usability study. Builds personas, user journey map, empathy maps.

Experience on UX analysis to conduct competitive analysis, market assessments and heuristic evaluations.

Experience on Information Architect, taxonomies. Builds information architect, navigation schemas, search schemas and site map development.

Experience on web analytics and feedback data to inform infrastructure changes and design.

Experience on usability test - usability test script, method, collect feedback and design improvement recommendations.

Strong leadership, strong communication and presentation skills.

Experience in Adobe XD, Axure, Balsamiq, Invision, UXPin, InDesign, Sketch.

Experience in usability testing tools.

The likely salary range for this position is $136,000 - $184,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
