(Designer, I or II)

- Participates in the design of high-voltage electrical substations and/or high-voltage transmission lines for the purpose of creating drawings, specifications, and contract documents to be used to construct and operate those facilities. All work is done under the close technical guidance of a senior design staff. The position is required to perform with most of the following software: drafting, design (structural, transmission line, civil), engineering (hydrology, electrical grounding, EPRI). This position is required to perform in one or more of the following disciplines: high-voltage electrical substations, high-voltage electrical transmission lines, and civil site development or structural design.

(Designer, III)

- Performs physical design or grading and site design of electrical power substations or transmission lines. Creates drawings, specifications, and contract documents to be used for construction, fabrication, or site grading. Evaluate, select, and apply standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design, identifying possible adaptations and modifications. May represent engineering as an internal part of a corporate team on assignments with clear and specific objectives. Assists senior engineers in the training of new design associates. Assists in research, engineering studies, and the evaluation of materials. Develops new design specifications for approval by a senior engineer. Work is performed independently under the technical guidance of a senior engineer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: (Designer, I, II or III)

- Associate's Degree (2 years) in a related technical field.

Experience: (Designer III)

- Five (5) years of design experience in one of the following disciplines: electrical substation, electrical transmission line, or civil design.

Equivalent Experience: (Designer, I or II)

- Four (4) years of design experience on electric substations, electric transmission lines, or land development projects. Six years of general engineering or architectural design experience, CADD drafting experience on electric substations, electric transmission lines, and land development projects; or six years field experience in constructing or inspecting electric substations, electric transmission lines, or site development projects; and enrollment in a technical design course from an approved vocational/technical school. Must be able to show competency in fundamentals of trigonometry and college-level algebra.

(Designer, III)

- Nine (9) years of design experience on electric substations, electric transmission lines, or civil design projects. Twelve (12) years of field experience in constructing or inspecting electric substations, electric transmission lines, or site development projects.
