ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:The Office of Sponsored Programs provides support to faculty and staff in the development and submission of research, instruction and outreach proposals for external funding and post-award management of sponsored projects. The Grant Writer will provide technical writing support to faculty and staff developing grant applications, ensuring alignment with funding and proposal requirements to secure financial support for academic research and initiatives. This position will work closely with the entire OSP team to ensure understanding of regulations, terms and conditions, etc. of any grants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in identifying potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and corporations.

• Collaborate with Principal Investigators to understand the goals, scope, and significance of their research or program ideas.

• Conduct interviews and meetings with faculty and staff to gather detailed information about their proposed projects.

• Write clear, compelling, and well-structured grant proposals, including narratives and supporting documents.

• Review and revise drafts with researchers to incorporate feedback and improve the coherence of proposal narratives.

• Maintain ongoing communication with faculty and staff throughout the proposal development process to address questions and provide updates.

• Support researchers in developing realistic aims and timelines for proposals.

• Develop proposal concepts by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposals (RFPs), and attending proposal planning meetings.

• Coordinate with various departments and Pre-Award Specialist to ensure the timely submission of grant applications.

• Maintain accurate records of grant proposals and drafts consistent with department standards and expectations.

• Prepare summaries and reports on submitted proposals upon request.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

• Experience assessing grant applications and writing grant narratives.

• Proven record of establishing and nurturing productive collaborative relationships, with the ability to work positively with a wide range of faculty, staff and students.

• Excellent and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with faculty, staff, funding agencies, and other stakeholders.

• Superb time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in writing or English.

• 2-5 years of experience writing grant proposal narratives.

• Experience in higher education setting.

• Previous success developing highly competitive major grant proposals.

• Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with grant funding policies and procedures and programs specific to programming that has supported underserved student populations.

Salary:
