Position Overview:

The candidate for the Mechanical Designer II position will need a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical & piping drafting and design. Must be able to walk down piping and equipment in the field in order to develop 2D & 3D drawings & isometrics, and to compare existing equipment or new construction to P&ID's. They will be responsible for performing all aspects of the design and drafting process using computer software and practical design methods. They will maintain 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with company standards, create and prepare process drawings, 3D models, and drawing packages to support engineering design, fabrication, and construction.

Responsibilities:Design and produce 2D/3D models of proposed equipment solutions and associated piping, instrumentation, support structures, electrical cable trays, and other layoutsManipulate existing drawings and models into new configurationsProduce general arrangement and construction drawings for plant layouts and equipment designsProduce Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)Work with suppliers and incorporate supplier drawings into 3D models and 2D drawingsCreate Bill of MaterialsParticipate in site surveys and field measurements to quantify design requirementsMaintain and update existing site CAD standards, and verify contractor adherence to those standardsWork as a member of a project team, collaborating with contractors, suppliers, installers, in-house engineering, operations, maintenance, and the Project Management teamPerform other tasks as assigned by supervision and managementRequirements:

5 years experience in the mechanical design & drafting fieldAn associate’s degree in engineering technology, or greater, and computer-aided drafting is preferredStrong knowledge of piping design principles, codes, and standards (ASME B31.1/B31.3)Production floor experience and/or exposure to mining and chemical processing facilitiesAutodesk AutoCAD 2D/3D, Bluebeam RevuDemonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and adhere to specificationsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsDetail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and qualityAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectivelyThe expected pay rate is $100,000 to $120,000. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or location

While performing the responsibilities of the Maintenance Planner, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
