Job Summary

IU Columbus is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Athletic Director/ Sports and Marketing Director. This role is a hybrid position that will work under the leadership of the Athletic Director. Since the Department of Athletics is still in the start-up phase of being a new program to campus, this will play an integral part in providing organization, attention to detail, priority setting, and time management throughout the strategic planning process.

Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesEnsures effective and efficient operations while building structure for a new program.Plans departmental initiatives by adhering to annual and long-term financial and strategic goals, as the program continues to grow.Serves as the NAIA Compliance Officer for the campus.Performs administrative and managerial responsibilities in the Department of Athletics.Primarily responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the IU Columbus Coaching Staff.Ensures strong internal and external partnerships for program success.Responsible for game day activities for home games.Tracks formal statistics.Responsible for post-game social media coverage and reports.Assists in the development and execution of athletic marketing strategies and campaigns.Coordinates and executes various game day promotions and campaigns by working with various internal and external partners.General ResponsibilitiesComplies fully with all NCAA, Big Ten (or other conference) and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.Develops and manages the annual budget for the assigned sports program.Manages team travel, including itineraries, rooming lists, meal arrangements, practice times, authorizations, reimbursements, and air and bus transportation.Works with compliance staff on rules education, required compliance documentation, rules interpretations, and other compliance issues or requirements related to the assigned sports program.Collaborates with Sports Medicine, athletic training, and sport psychologist to advance player development.Manages external relations and community outreach activities including community service and engagement by team members and coaching staff. Seeks out, investigates, and develops team opportunities.Conducts a variety of human resource activities which may include, recruitment, selection, labor relations, training, and ensuring pay equity for functional area.Develops and implements new processes, standards, and policies that ensure adherences to departmental goals.May break down film and analyze data to prepare coaches as they study for game plans and strategy; works with coaches to evaluate practice and game performance; utilizes data to chart the tendencies of opposing team plays.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
