Overview Of Position

It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will keep the guests’, colleagues’, and owners’ perspectives in mind at all times and carry out the mission of the Sales Department.

The incumbent is responsible for leading the hotel sales team in achieving the rooms revenue goals as laid out in the hotel marketing plan as well as taking responsibility for all rooms sales, solicitation of new business, and managing the success and development of the sales team.

The Director of Sales & Marketing reports to the General Manager and and supervises the Sales Management team, Marketing team, and the Director of Revenue.

Essential Functions

Major responsibilities

Together with the General Manager establish and implement a strategic rate structure for all market segments.Together with the Director of Revenue Management apply a Yield Management System to achieve the Hotel budget goals.Accountable for controlling the Marketing Budget to the agreed annual level.Responsible for the Hotels overall Rooms availability. Through the Director of Revenue Management, ensure that inventory controls are applied.Direct the hotel's sales activities through the Director of Sales and ensure that the Sales Team meets their goals as laid out in the annual Marketing Plan.Establish and maintain effective employee working relations both within the department and with other departments.Attend selected trade and travel functions, i.e. trade shows and local Hotel and Tourist Association meetings to promote sales and image for the hotel.Plan and where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas and report new potential market areas that should be covered.Continually analyze and review local and international market changes. Together with the General Manager agree programs that may be executed to address these changes. Where appropriate these programs should be implemented through the Director of Sales.Maintain close relationships with all key decision-makers both in local and international markets.Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the General Manager.

Requirements

Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as Director of Sales & MarketingDemonstrated ability to set and exceed goals and quotasLuxury Hotel experience strongly preferredSuperior communication and presentation skills requiredFluent in EnglishDemonstrated superior command of negotiation skillsAble to direct and guide a team of sales professionals through challenging negotiations when necessaryKnowledge of luxury sales markets strongly preferredBachelor’s Degree
