Scope

We have an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated self-starter for the position of Manufacturing Designer I. This position requires hands-on Manufacturing Design process execution (Layout, Programming, and Tooling Ordering) in a team-based environment. This position's responsibilities include effectively and efficiently maintaining the schedule, meeting internal and external customer needs, expectations, and requirements; as well as confronting complex processes and technical challenges requiring direct involvement, understanding, and support to reach resolution.

Mission

The mission of the Innovation and Design (I&D) organization is to bring forth new packaging solutions through creative structural and manufacturing design, working collaboratively with our internal graphic designers, machinery and systems engineers, business development team members, market and product managers, manufacturing and quality assurance personnel, key supplier partners and ultimately interfacing with customers to understand their unmet needs, consumer unmet needs, and marketing objectives.

The Manufacturing Design (MD) team, within Innovation and Design, is responsible for translating final paperboard carton specifications into production-ready cutting tooling used by GPI converting facilities to produce finished paperboard cartons that meet customer needs, expectations, and requirements. The translation of specifications into tooling encompasses Layout, Programming, and Tooling Ordering processes and procedures utilizing both ArtiosCAD and SAP software applications.

Responsibilities

include but are not limited to the following.

Manufacturing Design and Software use:Actively monitor, maintain, and control work schedule and back-log (Layout Requests, Programming, Tooling Requests, etc.)Full understanding and utilization of the Artios CAD system to execute Manufacturing Design tasks to required specifications for plants assigned (die layouts, die design, programming of phenolics and steel counters, etc.)Fully apply all GPI plant specifications during Tooling Design process for responsible plantsSupport and resolve carton structure design and production tooling-related issues and inquiries involving both external and internal resourcesUses 2D and 3D conceptualization techniquesTooling Ordering

Quote all tooling, order tooling and support the plant in tooling purchases accurately and efficientlyReview tooling orders and necessity based on tooling library and provide cost savings solutionsAssist the plants in maintaining their tooling budgetsTeamwork and Coordination of Tooling

Effectively interface and interact with internal customers, stakeholders, peers, and co-workers to resolve issues in a timely fashionComplete Tooling Design projects while fully coordinating with sales, customer service, structural design, capacity planning, graphics, and carton converting groups as requiredIn-depth interaction with plant representatives during the tooling design and order process.Continuous Improvement and Project Management

Identify and help develop Continuous Improvement initiativesAssist in the development and modification of manufacturing design standards, tools, processes and training materialsAssist in the development & apply manufacturing design related documentation, process detail, specifications, and intellectual property protection processesActively participate in, and contribute to, local Culture Development ideas, initiatives, and activitiesSearch out cost saving initiativesTechnical Skills

Must be certified in at least two processes - Layout, Programing and/or Tooling OrderingSkill Development and Learning

Pay Range:

$40,200.00
